Hi guys, happy new year to you all.
The cracked fork was taken back to the UK for repair through Phil and Jon at Autoitalia in Lincoln, great guys very helpful, fork was welded by a fellow motorcyclist at a specialist weld shop, thanks Vic.
Now the help .... you know when you take something apart and you end up with a bit leftover ? Well have not got that far yet but in the exercise of removing the wheel etc to get the fork leg off a single spacer appeared on the shed floor ! I am sure there is only one but I have no idea which side of the front wheel it fits ? It's the same inside diameter as the wheel shaft and about an inch long, it must have dropped out while I struggled getting the wheel out.
I have build pictures in the parts list of the shaft etc but no mention of this spacer, can anyone who is familiar with the YB11 help please ?
Thanks in advance
Steve

Do you have the Full BImota Workshop manual for the YB11? I have it in an email pdf format if that would help?

Workshop manual doesn't show any spacers either........But that's not unusual....Do you have the electronic speedo YB11 working off a sensor and not a cable driven speedo drive???...Sitting on the bike the spindle pushes in from the right hand side of the bike...which has a wider dia part on the end to push and clamp against the bearing in the front wheel...inside the wheel theres a large spacer which bears against the inside faces of both of the wheel bearings....then...assuming you have an electronic speedo....there should be the spacer that you are left over with that would pull tight against the LHS fork leg and LHS wheel bearing....on the early cable driven speedo YB11's there would be no spacer but a mechanical speedo drive unit that pushes over the spindle......Hopefully this is what you need...evidently before tightening everything up just check the spacing from the wheel rim/tyre to each side of the inner faces of the forks...and the seating/centralisation of the front mudguard......The workshop manual I have is for the late YB11 where someone must have tipexxed out the older speedo drive but omitted to draw in the spacer that would have taken its place

I am very grateful for your help thanks, yes it has the electronic speedo so that's where the spacer belongs, having not got the right kit to support the bike, roping it to the garage roof is very makeshift so wanted to make sure it went together first time.
The only information I have is a parts list, your offer of the PDF copy of the workshop manual is very kind and would be most welcome, have taken lots of cars apart but not bikes so it's a steep learning curve.
They are a really rare animal over here so apart from the engine and gearbox I am unlikely to find anyone with knowledge of Bimota on the island.

Regards Steve

I had to hoist my DB2 front wheel off the ground to change the fork level heights...I do have a front paddock stand that has a multi variety of pins to insert into the bottom yoke under the headstock...but none small enough for the DB2...So I used my heavy duty ally step ladders....erected to left and right side of the bike...then using the rungs and top yoke...I rigged up HD ratchet tie down straps...worked a treat in lifting up the front end whilst the back end was on a paddock stand...trusted it more than I would my garage roof timbers.

I'll send on the YB11 workshop manual...which has torque wrench settings also for most bolts...130Nm for the front wheel spindle...strangely though I've not found a asetting yet for the pinch bolts on the fork clamps....low though I would say as not to snap them again...you may receive a fileshare request from Dropbox...which once you log onto for free..you can download and save the YB11 workshop file and print off any pages you want...so keep an eye open for it..maybe it may go to spam........

Will come in very handy I am sure, hope to get it back together soon when the wife gives me a day off from workoping on the house,, it's not going back on the road till April anyway.
Crete does suffer from some pretty grim weather for the first three months it's not all sun and blue skies.
Have a great 2017 everyone, ride safe.

Here are two of several torque value charts that I keep printed and at hand in the garage as the older I get, the more my CRS flares up. Laughing

http://www.spirol.com/library/sub_catalogs/cmpl-Bolt_and_Torque_Specifications_us.pdf

There are quite a few online. Find the one that you like best and print a copy to keep handy.
