Given the slating it generally got from almost all testers e.g. " the only place this bike would feel panted would be in the tyre wall"... I was surprised that there were some real BB1 supermono racers. This looks a very tidY one from a previous Bonhams sale.

[BUT THE GILERA IS sooooo PRETTY)

Because of the critical response they received most of the BB1's will be wrecked or destroyed. In time they will be highly collectable, only because so few remain.

Some people get the "thumper" experience, some don't. Particuarly around the time the BB1 was released, most journos would have stepped off 600 multis or litre class bikes.

The BB1 is a completely different experence, and most folk that step off a conventional sports bike with >100hp will have a hard time adapting or appreciating.

I had one for a couple of years, and in many ways regret selling it - it was a beatiful thing that had excellent handling, despite the journos who felt otherwise - yes, it was very vibey, but I'm used to that. I had some really fun times with it - the game was to keep the throttle wide open, and concentrate on maintaining corner speed, and planning your perfect line and overtakes because with only 50hp, any loss of momentum takes a while to regain.
