We had been set up at the Festival of Speed for a couple of days when this bloke comes up and starts chatting to me, wearing Ducati t-shirt and cap... anyway he owns some very desirable Dukes, and told me about the private collection he bought them from and of a brand new KB3 that was recently sold.

Full Moriaki race engine, the bike has never turned a wheel... then he shows me a pic!!! WOW, check this out... who knew a KB3 was hidden away in the rain-forest down under!!

Zero miles by the look of it! Assuming it was a kit bike given the forks ??
Very tasty , be interesting to see it with fairing on (I assume its in race trim not for road registration?)
Need to get his details to add to the Swiss registry!

(PS looking forward to your festival write ups! Pity that the most frequently asked question by punters at Manchester show was "do they still make them!"... difficult to give an honest answer on that!)

Steve

The frame, tank and forks make it look more like a Kb1 than a Kb3, Was it for sale or sold?

It was a great weekend at the FOS, with lots of cool bikes and the weather gods looking after us

Hi Gerald, it had recently been sold for AU$20,000!!!!! What a bargain..

I can't confirm the model, but the guy who sent me the info said it was a 3..

You think they could reproduce those frames for classic racing

I was saying the exact same thing at the Festival of Speed where our display was....

There were lots of custom frames in the pits.... Harris, NCR, McIntosh....

it's certainly one good looking Bim, but I don't think its a KB3. KB3 were same frame, tank and fairing as SB4. Could be KB2 if thats a 550 GPZ engine but I don't know anything about Kaka engines.

Definitely a KB1, not a KB2 or a KB3. The confusion with the "3", could be because it has all the markers of a KB1 series 3 (the last version).

. Thats not a 550 engine , the 550 never came with a kickstart and the clutch cover on a 550 came with a round cover .

I think JL Meccanica have built a few Bimota replicas.
He's definitely built a very nice SB2 rep - dry sump and all.
