I had a similar problem when I needed to repair a tank for a Ducati.
After googling for a while (and finding) the red colour code for a Duc, a local workshop told me to have it matched instead because the colour changes with age, sun etc. Also some companies prime with yellow, white, pink etc. before the final coat of red.
From Pieros tail section on ebay it looks like Vdue's were primed with a pink colour.
The guy where I finally had it re-painted, did the entire tank - not just the blemished area where the nick had been repaired.
It came out really great. |

Yeah I think getting a good painter to match the colour is the best way to go unless you are doing a full respray. I had to get a minor piece of damage repaired on my SB6 and the painter had a hard time matching the pearl red. The biggest problem was the fact that the red on other parts of the bodywork had faded differently to others. He ended up getting it pretty good, but only a full respray would make it perfect. The problem then, is matching the carbon inlay _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |
