Started in the USA....now spread over here...PhotoBucket hosting site is removing all images from Forums where "file sharing/3rd Party Hosting" has been used....UNLESS....you pay them $400 a year to reinstate the links...Bang goes 8 years of myself using Photobucket and ALL my images uploaded to the Bimota Forum now gone.....

Flickr still free and Imagur or somesuch...but these sites will surely get overwhelmed with new customers and may go the same way...Apparently "Fox Entertainment" bought Photobucket and as of end of June they changed the Terms and Conditions on their site for ALL Users...Hence I would advise all to NOT use Photobucket anymore...they seem to be emailing the Largest most prolific posters initially...and I must be one of those persons...HayHo.. a possible Death Knell to Forums once again....1,000's complaining elsewhere on other forums that all their images are gone Sad

I think it is a conspiracy, with forums in the cross-sites.

Ransomware at best, corporate suicide at worst.

I'm one who...lol. who is being reamed.

Photofuckers have 60 million users. I typed 400 usd x 60,000,000 into my calculator and it returned the result of error. And I think this is what photobucket have engaged in, providing as I said the motivation is not more sinister.

I signed up with a free image sharing site, and this is how it has ended.

Really a sad precedent for other sites, as you could re invest and end up in the same situation over again.

If 30 million people put in 5 dollars each, you would have a hell of a class action going on!

I'll do my best to reinstate any images I've posted over the years

I've downloaded my pics onto my PC but so far not closed my account. I probably will though, photofucket evolved into a pain in the arse to use.

Same here, all my build and restoration photos do not appear anymore. I read that some people cannot download images from their own profile, I've just tried and it lets me. I always backup my images and data, some people have only stored their images at photobucket and now are having difficulties retrieving them. I cannot image how much time has been lost that people spent creating threads ie car/motorbike restorations

It seemed to me that they were trying to make a lot of money fast. Maybe the owners decided to sell the company and thought they'd get a massive payout before handing over, what will probably now be a 'dead duck'.

I assume the company has made millions just from the advertising the site generates through hits per day. It's another example of people/companies being too greedy and wanting more, more, more.....

EC - I found the interface was getting worse with more and more pop-ups and times when I couldn't access my account.

I also got an email today from Photobucket. I logged in and briefly to see what's up. I didn't have time to read thru but at glance I saw $2.49 a month. I know it's not much but I am pissed. Thankfully I didn't use photobucket too often. But I would have to update a few forums. Nothing major but still.

I am wondering why can't we upload pics directly to the forum? I always was able to upload pics into Aprilia forum

Band width Falcolion . The level of demands seems to vary.

I just had the random thought which was fuck them, and cancelled my account:

I would prefer a blank square rather than one that advertised Photfuckets ransomware.

I will do my best to reinstate pics of recent relevance,

You know, perhaps forums need to come together and create a forum membership only hosting site?

With the money that these cock-sucking organisations are making, perhaps we could make prizes and do some good charitable work?

Hi

I have been told that there is now a way around this (for those who haven't deleted their accounts on Photobucket). If you suffix the URL with ~original then they currently seem to appear.

Code:
[img]photobucket-image.jpg~original[/img]

All the best

I have had a think and toying with the idea.

However I would like to check it works first so need a volunteer who still has a photobucket account. I wouldn't be surprised if many people had just deleted their photobucket accounts.

Hi

Had a play. Had to do a minor tweak to the forum code but it does now work on here.

Will have a think of a way to do it automatically (as manually updating threads takes a long time)

All the best

Hi

I have done it to all the posts.

However this might corrupt some posts so if anyone spots any that are wrong then let me know.

Ones most likely to be corrupted are those which have a mix of photobucket and non photobucket images (well, they are pretty much certain to be corrupted!)

The fix doesn't seem to work for png images

All the best

What a total total Superstar you are Admin.....8 years of my life seemed to have made a return with the old photos....superb use of a fraction of your skills....lets hope that this Forum is so so small and select that PhotoBucket don't see what you've achieved and ......nuff said...thankfully I didn't delete my account....wasn't costing me anything and secretly I hoped they would relent...and would never have thought there was a way around it like you've managed..>WELL DONE Laughing

No problem

I can't take credit for it as others told me about the work around. How long it works for I don't know

All the best
