Any advice on the sb8r. On auto Trader.

Sold my 6r few years back due to previous arm injury. Even tho I could only do short ish rides I do fancy getting another bimota. The sb8r is not far from me. But I don't know much about them.

Bought a 2004 zx12r as a compromise bike and it works very well.
Did the whole n260 across Spain on it over summer. What an amazing road and experience. Seriously every biker should do that road. 300 miles of amazing. It throws everything at you.

I didn't really get on with my SB8R. Much prefer my current SB6R.
I had to get my SB8R fitted with a Power Commander 3 and some lengthy dyno time (at Chris Gunter's) to get it to run anything like. Prior to that, it tried to self-ignite whilst I was trying to start it in a petrol station. It burnt out every earth wire on the bike - including the one to the CPU. It was always a pig to start, even with the PC 3 fitted. At low to mid speed it was horrible - lumpy and snatchy due to the oversized throttle bodies. Another case of Bimota ruining a perfectly good motor just for the sake of it. At high speed it worked OK, but was a threat to my licence, so I sold it on. It was bloody uncomfortable too.
Clocks are cheapo GSX-R750 SRAD items, but at least they work (unlike my SB6R clocks).

Thanks for reply.
I wonder if they are all like that or did u have a bad one.
With my arm injury it would just be a short day out fun bike. Can't straighten right arm properly so need clip on's but to low it twists my back. Bmw jumped a set of lights and I hit it at 60mph on my now splatterd Ducati 996.

Sorry to hear about the gymnastic try outs!!
I hope the shoulder gets well quick.

I LOVE my SB8R!!! I'ts the bike I ride the most.

With that being said, it took a lot of work to get it to run like it should.
GeeKay is correct about how bad they can be to start and run at low
throttle position in the lower RPM range. I over came all those problems
by reprogramming the factory ECU. Correcting the cam timing helps also.
I'm also in the process of replacing the TL gauges with some from the
GSXR-1000.

Don't know how much you weigh, but the suspension was WAAAY to stiff
for me @ 155lbs. I just replaced the fork and rear springs, set sag correctly, and my teeth don't fall out anymore!!
