Good evening all. I'm looking for some advice about the ram air duct that feeds into the bottom of the air box from the inlet on the left side of the fairing. When I removed the fairing and seat etc late last year I discovered the duct had almost been pinched completely flat between the engine and frame. I can't really see how the ram air system works on the SB6 as the duct is corrugated, only about 35 to 40mm in diameter and the side of the air box is open which means any positive pressure would spill out. Now I'm almost ready for a fresh mot I'm not sure if I should replace the duct or leave it off. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks Pete |

It is not really ram air just extra air.
The ' Ram Air 'duct was an extra added to the mk2 sb6 as the mk1 suffered a bit from air starvation.
It was also available for retro fit to the MK1 but does not fit so well due to a coolant pipe routing on the LH side of the engine, so depends what level of sb6 you have.
The mod for the mk1 was to open the lh side of the airbox to be like the rh side.
Is it needed ???? questionable |

Thanks, I don't think I'll bother for the time being with replacing the air duct.
I think it's a mark two as it has the Antera wheels and larger air outlets at the tail pipes and other stuff. It was first registered in April 99 and frame no is 01214 colour is is red and white. When it's all back together I'll post a photo. |
