so - the speedo has cavity protection and the tacho has a brighter smile.

And the whole clock set looks much better for having had a shower in Mr Sheen.

Suppose I should refit them to the bike now...............

this product...........

https://www.amazon.co.uk/QA1-Motorcycle-Furniture-certificate-Scratches/dp/B00CU6UTNA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1525264716&sr=8-2&keywords=xerapol+scratch+remover

has been recommended to me by a top Suzuki GT750 restorer - he uses it for clock face restoration as well as on indicator and rear light lenses.

It's £20 on egay, but only £6.99 on Amazon. Field test results (on an old Suzuki TS speedo clock face) to follow.

putting the clock(s) back..............

the 3rd of 3 clock set mounting studs is behind these electrical connectors...

here (the stud with the shiny new nut attached)...........

Bimota have a habit of fitting self-locking / Nyloc nuts to studs that are secured in plastic components - I always replace them with a plain nut / lock washer / plain washer combo. But not on this one, as it's a swine to get to.

anyway, with the electrical connectors all re-connected, time to switch on the ignition and..............

the speedo dropped from 40km/h to zero, so all looks good with the repair.
Time to re-assemble the front end then...

and finally fit the fairing.........

road test next (when the replacement rear lamp assembly arrives).

took the bike to the MOT test station today - it failed on a sticking front brake switch (was working OK before I left my garage) and a headlamp that dipped to the wrong side. I have purchased a beam deflector to sort the headlamp - the sticking front brake switch necessitated the removal of the front brake lever to access the tiny plastic plunger that operates the micro switch. I cleaned and greased the brake lever housing, refitted the plunger, lever and switch and it is working fine now.

Good news is that the newly-repaired speedometer worked a treat, as did the new rear brake light switch I fitted earlier this week.
