|
|
Does any one know how I could identify the exact engine model of my SB4?
Thought they were all GSX1100s Katana engine but there must be several engine types os GSX1100s isn't it?
The problem is that I have just done the valve clearance adjustment and bough a new valve cover gasket to finish the work.
I received a gasket from ATHENA with the reference number 7348824 wich should fit GSX1100s Katana engine from 1980 to 1984. But it is slightly differente and will not fit.
Anyone can help me or give me advise where to find the correct valve cover gasket? |

I didn't think they were Katana motors I thought they were GSX1100 engines? Go onto the Suzuki website and go through the part manuals and see if they're the same part number for the different bikes. _________________ pkay

pinched this info from one of the other guys.........
"not specific to the kat, the gsx1100et had the engine first and the 20 bolt cam cover was discovered to be prone to leaking round the chain tunnel, so it was uprated to 24 bolt on both the et and the kat and other gsx variants that used this engine, some sz models also had the 24 bolt cover depending on when they were built in the production run" |

Thank you guys for the explanation, very helpfull.
Now I just noticed my engine is 24 bolts with makes me happy, and the gasket I got is 20 bolts.
How can I identifify the years or the engine type of the 24 Bolt covers?
It is getting sunny here in Spain and the 'road is calling me'. |
