I contacted Hertwig via Facebook (I hate it with a passion....but does seem to be the way forward....)....extract of words here about "YB10"
Hi Steve. Nice to read from you. It is YB10. I had one some years ago with low millage. Was running fine. For me the most comfortable Bimota so far. It is always difficult to say if this one is running well too. It is still a Bimota. The engine should be fine. I did not hear about electric issues from the YB10. From Quality Point of view it is like yb8 or 11. lot of plastic and not too many nice stuff like aluminum or carbon. If you like the style go for it. But the price is high. At least for germany. If you are looking for some KB1 or SB4 S or KB3 let me know. Have some good ones. Also a KB2 and Tesi 1 d is getting ready soon. Talk soon. Hartwig

Maybe .... mine was original too ... maybe 1500 km less some years ago
Funny .... bad neck

Good call on the Dieci. I had mine for over 3 years and love it. Make sure to run it quite often, otherwise you will have to deal with the carbs. I try to ride mine every weekend, but then again its easy to do in Southern California. Not sure if you have issues with ethanol in gasoline in UK, but it maybe a good idea to line the tank. US likes to use ethanol which causes condensation and in turn tank expansion. The power train is stout. Check thermostat and fan operation, the YB10 tends to run hot in traffic. One last detail off the top of my head - side stand. YB10 has a suicide stand as several other Bimota models including the SB6R IRRC. Could put you on a spot if you don't pay attention. I will be working on getting it resolved, one of these days... Enjoy! _________________ 1991 Bimota YB10

Picked up the Dieci today!
Found it in West Sussex Specialist Cars (who do a few bikes as well and were a pleasure to deal with) - it was imported from Europe in 2016 having originally been owned by the Ducati dealer in Pistoia, then by Hartwig Meinen for a while. It's only done 6.5k km and cosmetically looks really good apart from a few simple to fix things.
As far as I can tell the only use it's had in the last couple of years was a brief ride for this article https://classic-motorbikes.net/bimota-dieci-piloting-the-dream/
I rode it home in glorious sunshine from Petworth and then up to work in Wimbledon - a hot suburban commute is not its ideal habitat but it coped...
Lots of learning and familiarisation to come, but initial thoughts:
-Runs a bit poorly below 3.5k; it's had little or no use for ages so carbs etc. will need some sorting
-With revs on the clock it goes like stink
-Brakes lack initial feel but are powerful enough - very rattly so might need to look at the bobbins. I've seen a few comments about changing the MC
-Surprisingly quiet at normal speed (almost too quiet...); change end can?
-Handling feels awesome on first acquaintance - even with oldish tyres and the suspension not dialled in it oozes class!
-It looks a million dollars glinting in the sun!
-I flipped the chain adjuster 180 deg to get the ride height back
-Those mirrors are about as useful as when I had the same on my old Ducati Superlight
-Need to sort a good quick connector for the rear loom
Happy days -I have a good feeling about this one

looks a peach well done.
is the Jota a 120 or 180? I had a 180. But not for long. _________________ Bimota SB6 and Benelli TNT 899S road bikes.

Cheers
A '77 180 degree
Had it for 18 years, so it's a well-sorted (and well travelled) thing - it might have a bit of competition now though on a Sunday morning! |

The Mondial looks beautiful too, the engines on those bikes are a work of art. Have you converted the Jota to hydraulic clutch?. |
