I decided to forego my usual visit to the Donington Classic Race meeting and take a couple of Bimotas to the LlanBikeFest at Llangollen Pavillion (Aug 4/5). Pleased to report a well-organised event with friendly, helpful event staff, plenty of food vendors(reasonably priced), live music and indoor display of all exhibiting bikes. I set-up early on Friday and was positioned right at the front of the stage amongst some race bikes. Tons of visitors over the weekend (no doubt helped by the scorching weather). I was allocated 3 weekend passes and able to purchase additional tickets for some friends at £5 instead of the on the day price of £12. Guest speakers included John McGuiness, John Reynolds and Steve Plater. Maybe we could try and put on a club show next year, plenty of nearby B&Bs and campsites.
Now for some pics. Apologies as some are not as sharp as they ought to be, I need new glasses!

Cheers for the piccies Paul...….I notice a lot of bikes on grassed areas for a weekend event...but in one picture you could see there was a tented arrangement overhead shielding them.....was this for all bikes?....thus all were protected over the w/e if it rained...as evidently your bikes were indoors? |

Yes Steve, all the bike exhibits are within the tented pavillion, therefore protected from the elements. If you look at the first picture (with my Bimotas) the area consists of a stage on the left, then the concrete floored area. Bordering the concrete area was a large raised grassed area (still covered) where many of the exhibits were. If you look at the eleventh picture down (John Cooper Rocket Three race bike) you can see the transition from the concrete to the grassed area by means of a wall and stepped access. Access to the concrete area was via ramps either side of the stage (see pic 1). There were some stands outside but these displays had obviously geared up for it and had brought their own awnings etc. There were a number of club displays inside, including the Ducati Owners Club, but we Bimota enthusiasts could outshine them all
The custom bikes had their own display area in the front entrance hall behind the stage. _________________ Bimota DB1, Bimota YB5, Bimota YB6 Exup, Bimota YB9 SR, Ducati NCR Replica, Moto Guzzi 750 S3, Honda CR750 race replica, Seeley-Suzuki TR500 |
