Gents,

Does anybody have an ultrasonic cleaner for cleaning parts? I’m thinking of buying one to clean carburettors etc. Just wondering if there’s bad ones and good ones?

Also... what kind of cleaning fluid do you use in them (eg. for carbs)?

I have one

Useful but takes time. The liquid we have came from the jewellery quarter in Birmingham

Most small ones will on fit a single carb. Hence having to split a bank down.

All the best

Katy

Cool thanks. I’m thinking about getting a 30L tank so a bank of 4 carbs can be in. I’ve split a rack of 4 FCR’s before but prefer not to.

Thanks for the reply.

I don’t normally buy cheap shit, but I think I might buy one of the Chinese 30L units on eBay. I’ll most probably only use it once a year, so if I get 10 uses out of it I’m doing ok.

I had a look at the ones in Supercheap auto but they were garbage chinese items that I reckon would be hard pressed to do anything. So I've stuck with my trusty cans of carb cleaner and degreaser for now........

I've got a Chinese one that will take a bank of 4 carbs and it does a fine job. Ideally, you want a compressor aswell, so that you can blow out any residual liquid. For most purposes water will do as it is the cavitation that lifts the muck off, rather than the use of a solvent.

The Chinese ones from Harbor Freight over here in the USA are ok for $100. I would change the hoses to fluid quality hose (Gates transmission cooler type) and have a spare pump in case the other leaks but they work great and used 15 gallon (60 liter) empty drums to hold the fluid and act like a stand are only $15 or so.

The newer style have hinged metal covers, SS drains, LED lights and the connected fluid applicator brush and hoses/nozzles.

At least spare parts are easily available, unlike our manufacturer... Shocked

I'd also add an external spin on filter.

Ooh. I sense a project coming on... Very Happy

A chip butty would have to be allowed in your diet wouldn’t it Steve?
