Hi Just picked up a lwo mileage sb6r from a friend, Really excited to have one finally and been for a quick spin and it feels great at speed.!

But it needs a bit of sorting just bits and pieces really,

Speedo does not work below 40kmh (Is it true they all do that sir!)
Is this an easy fix?

Also need another gear linkage it looks like it and the chain have been having an argument.
Whats the best source for spares?

Also I suppose the holy grail question! Is replacement bodywork available? Just fiber glass stuff as it would be an awesome tool for the track.

Any guidance and comments welcome I'll be trawling the forum as Spongebob tells me its a great resource.

The Bimota electronic clocks are not great, but GK just had his fixed , and seem to work, so might be worth speaking to him.

http://www.bimotaforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=5439&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=speedo&start=30

There is the odd pieces that come up on ebay, not sure if there is anyone reproducing them in fibreglass though .

The clocks are rubbish. The stepper motors can be replaced, but the repair doesn't last long. Better to put the effort into a new set of clocks.

Your gear linkage just requires adjustment (lengthen the rose joint at the appropriate end and shorten at the other) to avoid fouling the chain.

Not aware of any sources of fibreglass aftermarket bodywork. Be sure to put the lardy lad on a diet before you ask him to cope with the track - wheels and end cans and then it's less likely to chuck itself up the road and will feel more "scalpel" and less "meat cleaver".

As per the others..welcome…."gear linkage"....are you talking about the gear shaft rod itself or the linkages on either end...to gear shaft or other end to foot lever?

For bodywork there is http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/pricelist/bimota.html in the US.
Also check out Bimota Classic Parts, he may be able to help. neither option cheap though.
An alternative may be to take moulds of your existing body work if you could find somebody good. Then you could sell your own replacements and recoup your investment, maybe!
Good luck

Koso clocks seem to be a reasonable alternative for the original clocks

SB6 bodywork (in the link) is quite a bit different to SB6R bodywork.

Thanks for the link though, I didn’t realise that airtech did Bimota bodywork

well done on the purchase of your SB6R and welcome to the forum.
Speedo should work below 40km/h, but if that is the only problem, leave well alone! They are notoriously fickle in their operation Very Happy

Only replacement bodywork panels are used, genuine, Bimota parts.

Used panels here...........

https://www.bimota-parts.de/en/component/virtuemart/sb6r/results,31-40.html?Itemid=470

but they won't be cheap Crying or Very sad

Yeah, I don’t like to be too picky, but it’s better to clear something up if one you old farts has a brain fade Laughing. I’ve made my fair share of slip ups on here that’s for sure and happy for someone to correct me Wink
