|
|
I was trolling e-Bay today and came across this interesting listing.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1978-Bimota-SB-2-Evolution/183424115976?hash=item2ab4ede508:g:u0kAAOSwjuFblOsN
Says its a 1978 Bimota SB 2 Evolution, although there does not appear to be much SB2 left. Maybe someone found one of the "destroyed" frames, and resurrected it? No mention of the serial number of the frame.
Seller appears to be in the Netherlands.
Anyone on here know about this bike?
Cheers,

As i read this the seller isn’t claiming this as any sort of official model. He says he had an SB2 but when he recommissioned i after lay up he mad e some mods to it. should be easy to check if he still has the original parts (which would back this up) _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |

Theres more piccies here
http://www.bimota.net/home
just click on each link on the left
But if you look here at the original sales brochure....it tells you the various states of a complete bike or kit form you could buy depending on size of your wallet...
http://www.bimotaforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=5571&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30
IMHO....someones spent a lot of money to build what it is...without improving on the original in looks or value.......I would have expected a resto thread specially set up on the internet to contain at least one photo of "before" the resto started.....first pictures are of the frame returned from the powder coaters.
As far as originality goes it has the frame and swingarm and footpegs and gear/brake levers of a Bimota....and thats it.....resto thread shows new clocks....different yokes...forks...badly fitted front mudguard not using any of the forks inbuilt lugs, top or bottom....17inch Oscom wheels in lieu of 18inch mag campags...check out the back wheel....1 inch wide alloy "spacer" on the back rear disc side...and what looks like a 3 inch wide alloy spacer on the sprocket/cush drive side to try and acheive chain alignment.....thats a whole lot of "leverage" acting on cush drive bolts in the hub if there is any in there still....
Forks, wheels, brakes, rear shock, clocks, wheels and all bodywork none Bimota.....Also take into account all of that red painted CrMo tubing at the back from the engine frame assembly is "extra".....normal Sb2 frame has self supporting tank/seat unit so is entirely devoid of any steel tubed substructure to support it....heres a "normal" frame

I don’t mind it. At least it’s another Bimota that’s been saved / resurrected. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |
