| That was a question I asked a year or so ago... who's commuter runs the fuel injection in a DB4ie? I would be keen again if it is a Weber-Marelli 1.5 off the 900 Supersport |

Interesting -- the guys on the Ducati.ms forum are sure its an FI:
I added a few other pics from the post, and this was mentioned by those forum members...
second pick shows a rotation sensor, so it's an ie. green covers mean up to 2000. so it's a 10mm engine bolt, bearing in case swingarm pivot (monster and ss), 3 phase alt motor.
and
Plus injection intake manifolds and engine temp sensor location in the horizontal intake valve cover.
and
Looks like a single wire neutral sensor, so definitely not a carby motor.

| I would say the Ducati boys know their engines well...perhaps more so than owners of any other brand out there....I'm still for it being injected...the intake tubes just do not scream "carbs"....as they are too short and dont marry up to a bank of Mikuni carbs....intake tubes have to be longer and twist in opposite directions until they both face the same flat back of the mikuni carbs....What mods this engine has had done to it though only the person who made the mods could say......Last last possible attempt to identify would be to take the engine number and show it to a Ducati dealer....They used to be able to identify the exact engine and type or model from frame and engine numbers....but again....this they "used" to be able to do...but a change in their computer systems since VW/Audi took over may have deleted this.....They are now forced to concentrate on "new customers"...I've been waiting 7 months for a simple starter solenoid....no joy....despite the factory showing stock they are concentrating on building new bikes...in the old pre VW days it was less than a week to turn around requested spare parts from the factory |

A real shame that manufacturers don’t show the same loyalty to owners of older machines as the priority they put on getting new machines out. But I guess that’s business and you need the cash flow from sales of new bikes. A few years ago I ordered a set of genuine pickup coils from Ducati Brisbane which were ex-factory in Italy. They turned up in very quick time from memory

| Its the first time I've had the issue.. a couple of days is the longest I've waited before...but times have changed in Ducati..."new customers only"....some dealers are also only now wanting to service new stuff with plug in capability....to encourage loyalty from new owners and new buyers...and saying "stuff it" to the old faithful that have been buying for the last 20 years...my part has been listed as "processing" for the last 6 months....they can no longer check if theres stock...maybe its discontinued...but it doesnt show this on the system...Not desperate for the part...as not running the bike...but I do like to start them all from time to time and warm up fully over the winter period....lets my neighbours know I'm still around... |

The DB4ie uses the Weber-Marelli 1.5 off of the 900ie Monster. The Supersport computer will work too. You want the later 1.5m computer revision IAW15M.A8 ECU. Not the earlier IAW15M.A0 ECU.

Engine swap was done in 2012 from a "2004" bike with 4552 miles on it....so they declared....but actually the mileage was in "kms"...thus around 3,000miles in effect
it was a bit "naughty" as the bike had had an engine swap...yet they advertised it with the original clocks on it...so mileage was on the other engine and not the one in the bike at time of sale

THis was once a bargain.....until it sold quickly....and evidently someone sold the engine on quickly also....
Just arrived, 2004 Bimota ie FF, 4552 miles, extensive engine upgrade by JHP Racing. This stunning Bimota DB4 ie FF is number 21 of a production run of only 75. It has had extensive engine upgrades here at JHP Racing Ducati Coventry carried out by John Hackett. The original standard 900SS engine is included in the price. Current engine fitted has the following specification:, Built on brand new blue printed and anodised Ducati DS1000 cases. Lightened and polished crank shaft. Forged titanium con rods. Pistal 1078cc Pistons in big bore barrels. Gas flowed heads., Ducati Performance cam shafts. Magnesium side covers, with Titanium bolts. Ducati Performance slipper clutch. Ducati 999RS gear cluster, shift barrel and forks. Pierobon stainless steel and Titanium exhaust designed specifically for this engine specification. The standard ECU has been re-flashed to suit. The engine is producing appoximately 112 HP at the rear wheel., This Bimota DB4 also has a lightweight Shorai LFX lithium battery fitted and a Maxton rear shock absorber. The original exhaust is also included in the sale price. This bike is currently on display in our Ducati Coventry showroom. Nationwide delivery available. £7995.00

Yep, I bought it. I'm actually getting it shipped to me in Canada for a Ducati bitza project... a 900ss ie, but with a modified frame, bimota exhaust, 1000ss ds swingarm, etc. Seems foolish to ship something that big and bulky across the atlantic, but decent 900ss engines are nonexistent here, especially ones with so few miles. Even with the shipping expense and exchange, its a good deal financially. Here's hoping it arrives in one piece! |

No idea where its gone Lamby…..the one that first saw it rand on the day of the advert....and that was too late.....that was the first time it was up for sale with the original exhaust and the original engine included....next time it was up for sale the price was hiked up a couple of K...and the original engine and exhaust were not included anymore |
