I suspect that this DB4 may have fairly low mileage on it. Unfortunately the clocks are one of the missing parts and the seller had no idea of the mileage. Some things that suggest low mileage to me are...

All of the brake rotors have almost no wear on them at all

Everything looks very clean with very few marks and little signs of wear and tear. Even the engine and exhaust system are very clean

The bottom of the swing arm has almost no wear. This could just mean that the chain has always been properly adjusted though.

The photo below is of the bottom of the swing arm on my OTHER DB4 that has an original 23000 klm’s on it. It could just be that the chain on my other DB4 has been loose for most of its life

I wonder if these are the original tyres Shocked

I doubt that the 297 is a date stamp as they usually have a 4 digit number. There’s nothing else on them that resembles a date stamp though.

Probably the worst piece on the entire bike is the chrome side stand which is corroded and the chrome is peeling off badly. Also could be an indication of low mileage I guess as it may have been sitting on the side stand in a damp Japanese shed for many years

Hi Brian, regarding tyre date, before the year 2000 the date code was only three digits, so your tyres will be week 29 year (199)7, Well past it!

Well that’s actually very good news for me Paul! If that’s the case then these probably are the original tyres, the front and rear are a matching pair. This may well be a very very low klm bike Very Happy. The DB4 would have been built in ‘99, so tyres dated ‘97 were probably fitted at the factory

Its actually the "2nd Month" of 1997, or at least I've always though so.....as pre 2000 tyre codes were 3 digits as pointed out....the first digit was the month and the last 2 digits the year...86, 87, 91, 97 etc...… But then what would happen in October, November and December (10, 11,12)...It seems theres some vagueness of this on the Net...conflicting info that the first 2 digits are still the week and the last digit the year on pre-2000...but then you wouldn't be able to distinguish 97 from 87.....Most "info" on the net comes from tyre dealers...who basically want to sell you tyres....and thus if its a 3 digit code...

All immaterial really....Its defo pre-2000 and they just say "change them".....I'd say yeh....they are the original tyres...and wouldn't be 1987....tyre manufacturers can sell you a tyre within 3 years of its manufacture date legally

Well, except for the scary looking tyres and crappy sidestand, it looks like you are onto a winner... It will be interesting to see what you end up doing.
