2bims, I think I remember you mentioning in another thread about a company that makes race bodywork for the DB2? Do you have a name or link? I’m just wondering if a DB2 half fairing would suit the DB4 _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

I knew you would come around to the half fairing eventually Brian !!
I've been looking for a DB4 half fairing for years. Can't find anyone that makes an aftermarket number , and never seen a used one for sale either.
What we need to do is find someone that has a half fairing model that will let us take a mold off it. |

I actually prefer the small nose cone of the DB2 half fairing to that of the Db4 version as its shorter in length....its just the fixing that fixes to the frame rail on the DB2 frame that you would be missing....the mirrors fix to the spurs off the headlight assembly that also then hold the fairing in place....thats it....one bolt for each mirror...well...Db2 mirrors have 2 bolts each into the body of the mirrors...DB4 has one central bolt and 2 brass pins.....headlight unit on DB2/DB4 is interchangeable so no issue with aperture there.....DB2 seat tank unit I wouldn't like to put onto the DB4...DB4 is all hidden fixings in different places.....one behind headstock and 2 under key operated removeable seat pad....DB2 has 2 fixings visible either side into lugs on DB2 frame and 2 visible plastic bolts behind riders pad....also the tank is a sung fit under this tank/seat unit...and the DB4 plastic tank is a different shape.....wouldn't expect the DB2 cover to fit...…
I'll dig out the links to race and road DB2 stuff...unless Welshlamb pipes up first coz he says theres a german company selling the glassfibre race or road DB2 half fairing stuff, nose cone and belly pan....Screens are easy to get also...DB2 mirrors work better than DB4 ones as they are further away from the rider and thus larger field of range behind....Companies also advertise on ebay.de...just put in Bimota DB2 and search |

Things have been really quiet on the Bimota front for me of late.
Just thought i'd give a bit of an update on the status of this long term project.
Yep.... it still looks exactly the same as it did 2 years ago. But I have been gathering some of the missing pieces of the puzzle over the last 2 years so that when I am ready to move on the project, it should come together in a reasonable time frame (even by my terms).
I'll get some pics uploaded and update over the next few days
Parts missing from the bike when I bought it....
Bodywork
Seat
Tank cap
Seat lock assy
All lights and mirrors
Clocks
Front sub frame
R/H foot peg, hanger plate and rear brake lever
Front brake calipers and brake lines
Front brake master cylinder
Clutch slave cylinder
Throttle cables
Fuel pump
Fuel tap
Correct handle bars and mounts _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

It has a set of shitty looking pressed steel clip ons on it, maybe off a Mantra??? Not the lovely milled billet ones that the DB4 should have. I'll have to find something little nicer but not too worried about originality.
I have a spare set of mirrors thanks, but won't be needing them on this build. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Yes....sounds like the Mantra forks/clip-ons before the later mantra had handlebars....YB9 is the same....using pressed black steel clip-ons off the Yamaha..... |
