Hhmmmm….my juries "out" on this one...but then...if you dont have the bodywork....I just wonder what he's done to be able to push the front forks through to put clip-ons ABOVE the top yoke...

Obviously THIS is how it should be done.....I'd have one of these...I evenlike the Antera wheels painted white...but...I do like white wheels

Yeah... I'm waiting for a full faired one to turn up... hopefully after the end of this year as the govt are changing the import laws.

DB3 fork legs are longer than DB4 by about 40mm - I'd guess that's what he's done as it doesn't look overly nose down?

Are you looking at the flatside one or the injected model? I have a DB4R1 and are still having issues trying to get the carbs to work properly, they are 40mm Mikuni's and we can't get them set up right as there is little to no information about them. My mechanic put on a set of CV's to see if it was the carbs and he said it was running a little lean which was expected but otherwise the bike was fine. Luckily the local importer has just brought it another bike like mine and we are going to contact the owner to see how his bike is running and if it's fine we will see what his carb set up is.

I’ve never worked on Mikuni flatslides, but I know Keihin FCR’s are tricky fuckers.... very difficult tune without a dyno

Not got Mikuni but my DB4 has got FCR's plus exhaust on it.FCR's were on it when I got it , and other than the no choke issue on starting , its run like clockwork for the last X years.
Have also ridden a CV carbed DB4 and mine back toi back and the difference the carbs make are AMAZING. Its worth getting them working properly.

Which variant of Mikuni Flatslide? RS40 or TMR40? (Or even TMR-MJN?)

On the Redbro website they call them TDMR Racing carburator.

My mechanic has had his 900ss for 27 years and a 170000ish kms, he uses 41mm Keihin flatsides on his bike and knows the benefits of them so is keen to get these Mikuni's sorted.

The Mikuni's come with a choke as well.

Talk to these guys about them:
https://www.frankmxparts.com/Mikuni-TDMR-40-flatslide-racing-carburetors-kit-Ducati-750-900-SuperSport-Monster

Franks MX parts are good guys.

From what I can figure out, they're a downdraft version of the TMR flatslide, which was the mikuni's FCR competitor that never seemed to make it out of japan (Certainly Australia, NZ, UK and USA stuck with the old RS series)

I lead to believe that the TDMR40’s are easier to fit to the DB4. The FCR throttle linkage fouls on the fuel tank, whereas the TDMR linkage doesn’t. The Corse Special DB4’s had a special tank made to clear the FCR linkage.

Thanks Gammaboy, i will pass this on to my mechanic and hopefully they can help him out.

Yes Brian you are correct, no modifications to the tank, not sure if standard airbox would fit though, this model comes with K&N pod filters from Redbro so i'm guessing the original airboxes would be sitting on a shelf somewhere or at the tip.
