I was after some advice on what jets to run in my YB7. I have put stock FZR400 jets per the FZR workshop manual in and seems to struggle to rev out. When I cleaned out the carbs it had bigger jets on the inside two carbies but I can't remember the sizes. I'll admit I haven't checked the other carb settings (like the air screws) except the carb balance which is fine.

Thanks for the help.

Yes fzr400 run like that but also the needles are different too.
The engine is a FZR400R SP 2TK, Yamaha only built them in 1987.
The carbs are different to other fzr400s too

So after contemplating what could be wrong and looking at a post on another social media site I went back and had a look at the main jets I pulled out when I replaced them. The bike should have #90 mains and #52.5 secondary. When I looked in the bag there was 2 #90 and 2 #52.5. I bet you can't guess what I am going to find when I check the bike.......... It's annoying as the problem I have been chasing since I bought the bike was evident all along if I had just taken the time to look.

Yes I'll be going back to stock jetting with the right jets in the right spot.

I really should stop buying bikes from this guy as I find this stuff all the time on them. When he advertises them as rung he should add "...like shit!" if he was being truthful.

Yep.

Come to think of it, I vaguely recall reading something somewhere about someone else mixing up the Main and secondary jets on the 400 carbs (unlike just about every other carb in existance, they use the same jet type for different things, and put them side by side in the bowl)

I stole the cupcake baking tray for that exact reason. Each carb had it's tagged bucket which is why I found the odd jet sizes when I pulled the mains and started thinking this was stock. I even went through all the different FZR400 workshop manuals on the internet to see if paired mains was standard Yamaha. Usual story when you stand back from the problem for a while it suddenly becomes clear.

Where did you get those FZR400 workshop manuals by the way, Pkay?

Just typed in "Yamaha FZR400 workshop manual" in Google and searched away.
