Hi!

A friend of mine has offered me his YB9SR, as he is considering to purchase an YB11. The bike is in generally good shape, but is there anything special I should look out for? Do they have any common problems?

Does the engine need to be dropped to check the valve clearances?

Even if space is tight, luckily Yamaha valves are very stable so don't need frequent adjustment. I've got 50,000km on my '01 FZ1 and the valves have never been touched. And the bike is serviced by a guy who races and knows FZRs-YZFs-R1s back to front so they would have been done if needed.
