I've been trying to find the thread where the our collective brains trust reviewed the red/black SB6 for sale at Centrepoint Wholesale. It's the one with the dent in the frame on the LHS. Can anyone point me to the thread as my search isn't showing it.
Cheers

Yep, as per Ben’s link above. It’s a thread that I started in the bikes for sale section.
Are you thinking about buying it Paul? _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Maybe, if it's not too much of a bastardisation of what it should be. Given it's at least $9K cheaper than the other one could be a cheaper entry into SB6 ownership.
It's bizarre that they're selling the bikes in pieces eg the BB1 they have without the front fairing, there is also a front fairing they have for sale separately. Surely a $3K bike that is incomplete would be better offering at $4.2 and looking complete (without the tank)? Just saying as a serial bike buyer. _________________ pkay

I agree Paul. It was a strange feeling looking around their shed. It was exciting to see so many Bimota parts in one place but I also felt a little sick in the gut at how all of those Bimota bikes / parts were strewn throughout the place and partly dismantled bikes shoved along the walls with parts stacked alongside them. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Guess they not worked out that the spares market is VERY limited . OK lots of parts are carryover between models but then guess not many Bimota's are crashed these days.
Bikes are worth more whole TBH , and the odd part they have sold has now made the rest of the bike un-sellable , as its probably the part that is so difficult to find !! Ala BB1 fuel tank.
Also guess the registration rules in Oz don't help , as it seems tough to got a full bike registered over there , let alone a bitza !! |

Yeah registration can be difficult here. My 2nd DB4 will never be registered so will probably be a track bike in due course. My DB2 Junior also will most likely never be registered unless the rules change.
These guys have had Bimota bodywork for sale on eBay for a loooong time and won’t even entertain a reasonable offer... although they do seem easier to deal with in person. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Hey pkay, i can't believe i'm saying this, but if the YB5 falls through, i have been thinking about selling my SB6....
It is just a thought that has been percolating in the back of my mind, a niggling question about how much i'll ride her in the future. It seems such a shame seeing her sitting under the cover not being used...
I love this bike, my first Bimota and in my opinion she is one of the nicest looking SB6's out there... but i am biased.

Brian, it took me about 10 minutes to click submit once i typed that!!
It was a thought that went through my head last week... looking at my bikes and how much use and enjoyment i'll get out of them over the next 10 years... Just idle thoughts, i have no intention of advertising it, but pkay has a great collection and it would go to a good home.. so i thought i'd throw the idea out there... I do think it is one of the most beautiful bikes i've ever seen, but i may be biased, in 10 years i'll be 67....
I suppose when i'm 67 i'll still love looking at her... It is the bike i have the strongest emotional attachment to, when i bought her around 13 years ago she was my ultimate bike, and when she suffered the sidestand fall, i think the all black paint and pin stripes have only added to how good she looks.. I would have never chosen to modify her, but the fall was a happy accident that ended up improving how she looks... _________________ Cheers

I sold a Ducati 888 SP3 once . Not because I had to but because it was not getting used when I bought the SB6 .
I have lived with that mistake for the last 23yrs !!!!!!
Don't do it !! |

I second Vorts Comment....If you dont need to sell...dont....If youre not retired as yet ...when you are youll have the time to use it...I know a 76 year old that still owns and rides Bimotas....and has only just sold his DB7 track bike that he used to also ride on the road......keep yourself agile by riding them and you'll be amazed how long you can continue doing so....I know a 69 year old that rides a DB7 Oro NEro as well as other bimotas....Numbers of your age are immaterial.....unless you have preconceptions..... |
