You have to cut clearance pockets in the frame cross member for the FCR float bowls. Mikuni TMRs are an option, but need wedge shaped spacers under the carb rubbers to angle them up for more clearance. |

I do, check my thread:
http://www.bimotaforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=5658
I find they give the bike a very racy feeling and am very happy to have them but, you need a second fule accelorator pump (loosely translate from the German name Kraftstoffbeschleunigerpumpe) and the frame needs a few cuts and welding. The amount of work required is not much but if you have to go to a specialist its going to be to expensive. The priviouse owner of my bike payed 3000€ to have the carbs installed (with second pump and addjusting) i payed 3000€ for a general maintainance job of wich the main part was carb cleaning and re addjusting ( got ripped of). |

Thank you both. Frame modification scares me and the only person I know that would take that kind of job on is highly likely to be hanging up his welding torch due to ill health. I was hoping for a straight swap.
Reason for thinking this route is my bike has a very pronounced flat spot between 3 and 5 thousand revs. A dyno session has helped and it does improve when the motor is really hot but it’s really noticeable especially on track days coming out of slower corners. My dyno guy suggested carbs and airbox most likely to blame |

It's probably the standard issue with these carbs of the needle wearing the emulsion tubes, there's a step in the bottom of the slide that makes the needle sit at an angle. Stepped carb washers (to make the needle sit straight) are the answer, with new emulsion tubes. |
