Hi guys. The choke cable appears to have broken on my YB7 somewhere up near the choke lever. Does anyone have any experience in replacing these? Are they available? A Yamaha part? Thanks |

I would pull the old cable out... go to your local bike shop and buy the parts you need... put it together including soldering if needed. I replaced all the cables on my DB1 this way.
What part of Sydney are you in? |

I'm not "overly" familiar with the YB7....does it have a centrally mounted billet choke knob in the top yoke?.....if so its a case as DB1860 says.....remove it and order a kit or special made one...companies like Venhill make to order in length with the right ends on them if you tell them what you need |

Yeah Steve I too was not sure where the choke knob was located...the " Bible" shows its on the triple clamp... so the break in the cable is probably around the bottom of the steering tube where it has to bend ninety deg and head for the carbs.
On a completely different note... thanks to you Steve and Andrew I've just cleaned the inside of my 996 head light with in the end bathroom and shower cleaner... used a small bent wire brush to help encourage the fog off... they look brand new now!! |

Its nice to have clean lens again...especially on iconic 916 etc headlight units...as they always go milkey….Shower cleaner spray....yup....that would work.....just be sure its bone dry afterwards.....I use a hairdryer for that.....Old wire spring brushes....hhmm….yeh...that would do it and good idea....I used artists brushes with plastic handles that I heated up to bend the shafts....then wrapped and taped little pieces of cloth around the brush heads.....to "polish up.....Some headlights are easier to do than others....transforms the face of bikes though for sure....No before and after pictures? |

Im yet to master sending photos to the Bimota forum... I polished the lens with a small alcohol soaked pad afterwards. |
