I had the tank off today and noticed that the sender unit is starting to leak, does anyone know if there is a replacement unit available ? |

This is quite common......where the fuel runs from the tank and leaks out through where the wires push in......If.....your tank is bone dry....let the unit whilst in situ dry out also....and use a 2 pack epoxy to seal it on the outside....something like araldite that has quick setting....5mins....rock hard in 24 hrs......comes in a tube with 2 units side by side and a double push plunger to squeeze out 50:50 of the glue and the curing compound......mix it up and ladle it on there....its worked for me in the past |

Always worth trying....just upturn your tank so no spare residues of tank leach out.....leave in the sun to dry...then araldite 2 pack epoxy...with a small artists paintbrush or piece of cardboard as a spatula if you like....I had a spare sender unit but didn't dare undo the 2 bolts in case they sheared...as they are steel going into brass inserts into a plastic tank and havent been moved for 27 years in my case on the DB2...and 20 years in your case on a DB4....I had fuel running down the wires also...but the unit still worked...."Bimota rule Number 1 - If it aint too broke dont fix it"....or mend but never remove...as then you'd have a hole you couldn't fill....and thats even if you found a correct sized sender unit |

Okay, the two bolts holding the sender unit in were relativity loose so I up turned the tank and removed them and the sender unit, I also wanted to see what the whole unit looked like in case a new one was required.
I cleaned the area where the wires came out with brake cleaner and applied the epoxy over the top, at the moment [12 hrs] the repair seems to have worked, will leave it till tomorrow before refitting the tank to the bike. |

My db2 sr had a issue with the power wire into the tank for the fuel pump Evan my missus with little hands could fix it so drilled a new hole and epoxy it .saved to resort to using a new tank I have bimota‘a ah _________________ DB1-DB2SR-DB2EF-DB3-DB4 Db10 YB6-yb7_yb10-2xyb11-SB5,2xSB6-kb3-yb5-MILLE MIKEHAILWOOD HARRIS MAGMAN2-TRIUMPH T140-RG500x2-KAWA Z900-SUZUKI GSX1100-DUCATI 900SS- 750 sport ducati DUCATI F1 750- 851 tri colour-500sl-1996 Trumph datona . Cool....and you've kept an "original" part on the bike...or rather not had the hassle of finding a replacement.....check the condition of the sealing rubber O ring prior to bolting back on....oh...and perhaps some copperslip grease on the bolts that fix it |

I’m a little surprised that it even still works! The low fuel senders on my DB4 and SB6 don’t work.... well sometimes they do something but they’ve never been reliable so I ended up just disconnecting both of them. At one stage I emailed Paolo from BCP for price and availability. He had one but not the other and the one that he had was pretty expensive so I never bothered. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

The DB4 and SB6 units are almost identical... the only difference that I remember is that one is longer than the other. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |
