We all know that for some reason known only to Italians the original DB2 'special' bolts (that hold the the seat unit to the subframe) were made in plastic.
Very light but also very susceptible to cross threads, rounding out the hex socket and general buggery. So they usually all get buggered up and replaced with something unsightly.
I have a local engineers that have confirmed they could manufacture exact replicas in 7075 alloy.
If I can get a bulk buy for minimum 30 pieces (Ie 15 DB2s' worth ) they would cost about £8.00 each. (P&P to you extra at cost) If there are numbers of overseas buyers then maybe one in each country could act as staging post for onward distribution?
First things first though........Hands up any interested parties and let's see if we can get this show on the road. _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |

Yeah, thats one of the things that got me looking at this. Third contact I followed up came up with the quote. I gave them a dimensioned drawing as well , and of course I would confirm prior to any order but Im working on premise they seen the day, photos and said they could ‘replicate’ it in ally.
Will let this run for. Couple of weeks and also try and PM some of the known DB2 posters just in case they aren’t ‘checking in’ generally to the forum. _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |

Excellent, thats 4 sets (I need two off) ..If we dont get to 15 sets I'll go back and see what pricing would be and check interest... but lets see how it goes.. In any case I reckon it will be a lot cheaper than any alternatives. _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |

I have a friend in Aus that makes 'special' bolts, fasteners, spacers etc as a hobby. He mostly use titanium but can use steel, alluminium, titanium etc. He also has the rotary broach to do the in-hex. I'll bounce it off him and see what he could do. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

I've no idea what the rotary broach is Brian....but lets see....I presume you have the same plastic/nylon bolts on your Junior? |

Hi there, I'll take a pair too if the price is reasonable. The problem for you guys in the UK is that if they're not anodised they'll corrode - have you thought about that? Still better than plastic though. Thanks for the initiative anyway!

I think with how most Bimota if not mere DB2 owners look after their bikes.....I dont think potential corrosion from Heavy winter or wet use is much to worry about....but would be nice to be anodised....come on Lamby...up your game |

Or clear cerakote?.. all a question of cost.. although Ive found a very competitive cerakoter in Wales. Need a good batch to make it effective though I guess. 6 pairs and counting! _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |

The rotary broach is a really cool piece of kit. Used on a lathe in the tail stock.... This is what makes the internal hex part. You should be able to find a video of one in use on youtube.
Yep, my Junior has the original plastic fasteners. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Ti would be another option if you were worried about corrosion. Again it comes down to cost. Aluminium is lighter than Ti as well, so aluminium would be my choice. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |
