Bike I recently bought came with what looks like a helmet lock in a bag. It is keyed to the bike, I just can not see where this would mount.
Was it original? _________________ Bimota (Tesi 1D 904SR, DB2, DB4, SB6,SB6R, SB8R, SB8K Santa Monica) Ducati (1000SS, Monster S4, 999R) Aprilia (RSV Mille R Haga) Honda (CL125s and 70s Chopper) |

I did once and did not see it. But might have missed it.
Odd to me as I just do not see where it would really mount. I am actually surprised it would have a helmet lock. But would be equally shocked that someone went through the effort to get one keyed to the bike but never added. _________________ Bimota (Tesi 1D 904SR, DB2, DB4, SB6,SB6R, SB8R, SB8K Santa Monica) Ducati (1000SS, Monster S4, 999R) Aprilia (RSV Mille R Haga) Honda (CL125s and 70s Chopper) |

I'll have a look....there are still a few dealers selling the same petrol lock, ignition barrel, seat lock set....and they come with a helmet lock also.....as these were used in the YB11's.....so maybe thats what your bike has had added....as yes...normally a helmet lock would be on the rear end under a pillion seat bolted to a steel subframe like it is on the YB11....but evidently an SB8 has none of that |

When I bought my SB6, a helemt lock was included in the box of bits. I never found a place on the bike for the lock (and frnkly I've never used them), so 25 years later the lock is still in the box.
I suspect the SB8 is the same and the lock was part of a "job lot", additionally maybe in some juristrictions the lock has to be fitted.

I dont know anybody who has ever used one on any bike.
It could be that they're a requirement of some motorcycle legislation somewhere and that this is just a way of ticking that box. Put it in a drawer somewhere _________________ Don't read everything you believe |
