My SB6 takes a long time to warm up and if motoring along in cool weather the temperature falls right off - a previous owner has put a ally mesh across the rad which I assumed was for protection but now I am wondering if it was to try and resolve this issue. In stationary traffic temp goes up and fan kicks in. I have read somewhere that some owners ditch the thermostat. Have I a duff thermostat or is it missing? Thoughts? i have 2 other bikes ( VFR800 and a Duc 848) and these get to temp a lot quicker.

Have you checked the thermostat? Maybe it’s been removed or is stuck open. Thermostat housing is under the tank.
