Sorry to bother you guys but I have been asked by PB to look into getting parts for the SB6R as part of the feature on one. (No they didn't crash it!) After speaking to a few people it seems like parts are like rocking horse poo but you can use alternatives. Does anyone have experience and know if there is a specific size Brembo brake lever that fits the SB6R should you break the stocker and not be able to find a replacement OE one. Also the same for the peg. I have been told you can get one machined but this seems like quite an expense. Also are there any people who specialise in spares for the Bimota? I have spoken to Moto Di Marino who were very helpful but other than that it seems pretty limited and more a case of keep an eye on ebay/ the forums. Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Levers are standard Brembo
Things like footpegs are cheaper to get machined than buy s/h ones |

Thanks for the reply. I have been told they are marked with a b for Bimota by a specialist. Is this incorrect, has he mistaken the B for Brembo for Bimota? Can you still get them new from Brembo or do you just have to get a second hand lever from a Brembo of that period? Thank you very much for the reply. |

I was a touch confused as well! The master cylinder is branded Brembo but I think he may have meant that the lever was marked in some way, I think he was mixing the two up. I have a 916 and it appears to have the same braking set up. |

It is a hazard of this job! One final daft question. The large red side panel. Carbon or plastic as standard? Again it seems to vary but I reckon plastic. I think I owe you a pint. If you see a tatty 916 at a Bimota event with a tattier rider grab me and demand beer! |

I'm not sure if I should congratulate or commiserate with you... Thank you once again for all your help. If it is of any reassurance PB seemed to love the bike, I didn't ride it but they were very complimentary. Cheers again, Jon |

Jon, isn't the Bimota in the next issue an SB6 rather than the 6R, or do you both bikes ????
I've seen footpegs on German E-bay but if you dropped the bike you'd bend the rearset first. As you say brake and clutch are standard 916 the original discs are the iron rich full floaters.
Inman should know most of this though, has he still got his SB6 ???? _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

I didn't know Garry had one, I'll have to ask him about it next time I see him around. As far as I know it was an R, hopefully I won't stand corrected... |

The fairings are different from the SB6 to the SB6R - the 6 has a 1 piece race style fairing as standard and the 6R's comes in parts.
If it's the bike they had a picture of with the 749R and MV F4 then it's a SB6. If it has yellow paintwork it's been for sale for a while. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |
