After much research, located the diode, it is part of the relay circuit for the side stand cut out switch. So is my understanding of below right.

The side stand cutout switch should only cut out the ignition if an attempt is
made to put bike in gear with engine running and side stand down, it should not effect ignition on start up as long as bike is in neutral.

If in gear switch is faulty (thinks bike is in gear before start) it can cut out
ignition anytime.

Also found out that ignitor unit has a built in circuit specifically for the 1100w
motor, that cuts out (cannot be reset -requires replacement) if RPM EXCEEDS
11,100 (EXACT)

If the neutral switch is faulty and telling the brain that the bike is in gear, the engine should still start with the side-stand up and the clutch pulled in.

First I've heard about the disposable cdi if it's been over revved. I thought that was what the limiter was for. Where did you get this info Marty?

When I went to Suzuki dealer to inquire about testing of digital ignitor unit
mechanic informed me of such - seems like he fed me a red herring Mad

After doing some online investigation on the digital ignitor unit tester, there is a sequence used to emulate rev range and cut out. If certain lights on test unit go on or off determines proper function of unit.

If sequence of lights do not come on at all, then it is determined that limiter circuit of digital ignitor has failed and unit has to be replaced
As to what caused limiter circuit to fail is not transcribed

Another common cause of no spark at the plugs is a dodgy engine stop switch Wink

Yep, that would explain why starter motor would not work either Wink
but as mine does,it may not be that Laughing

I don't know if Bimota did anything to the CDI, but you can run a Suzuki off most of the 750 unit, although the red line is higher, at least that's what Oldskool suzuki forum reckon.

Quite true but not advisable for anything more than eliminating your cdi Wink
Have you checked for power at the coils?

Peter (ther guy who did my engine) said mine cut out similar to this, he found the earth to the CDI through the loom was weak so he piggy backed an extra earth wire on ... Might be worth a look

Thanks guys for the help.I have a few things to try this weekend, but it is so fine dont want to be cooped up in a garage.

No power to the primary side of coils, on wiring diagram most seem to go back to large connector on ignitor unit. The orange/white wire seems to split in the wiring harness to feed both coils, so my digital meter and indicator lamp will be busy (maybe) this weekend.

That ignition circuit is really just the pick up from the crank into the CDI and then from the CDI to the coils. When I put the engine back in all the marks on the labels had rubbed away and I crossed the connections of the alternator and pick up over.

Could be the pick up is dead.

Eventually after much head scratching ( have three different wiring diagrams all said to be for 95 model 1100W (W) english/european version and two versions of the SB6, SB6R) all show different wiring colour coding to areas I was looking at. Did Bimota make up thier own wiring harnesses or did they adapt Suzuki ones to fit ?

Signal generator was not sending to ignitor unit. 2pin connector once located was seriously corroded/oxidised. Cleaned it and ignition spark was restored.
So going to replace with a new automotive 2 pin connector with cover as signal generator seems OK.

Result, very gratifying when you find the problem Wink
As for the loom, it's half the length with half the wires of a GSXR plus all the components are in different places so i would think that it would be easier to make a new loom as opposed to modifying a Suzuki loom Wink
