Hi

Would anyone have a YB9 exhaust for sale for the slab side version (1993)?

Best of luck sourcing a new exhaust. Bimota fitted their own 4-2-1 instead of the stock Yamaha FZR600 4-1. Are the exisiting pipes so shot that they couldn't be refurbed/welded/refinished? If they are plain steel then fine for welding. Stainless steel less so. You could try FZR600 pipes as theres no Exup valve issue to worry about on the 600 but best to check outlet header sizes and the "cant" angle of fitment of the engine. If it is raked forward more than the stock FZR600 Yam then the 4-1 section may foal on the underside of the engine/oil filter section in trying to reach up to the tailpipe, check for clearances as Bimota fitted exhausts are usually fitted very neatly with little tolerance. My DB2 exhaust is only 1-2mm away from the underside of the crankcase whereas the stock 900SS exhaust on a Ducati is some 2-3 inches away from the crank. Other than finding a cheap ebay second hand FZR600 zorst to try it would be down to having one custom made if the originals are beyond repair

AS LONG AS YOU HAVE A SET OF PIPES...........
There are loads of people out there that will copy yours in stainless or Ti Wink

IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY PIPES.........
There are loads of people out there that will make you a one off set in stainless or Ti Wink

If you've had enough of the YB already, let me know, I've got another 8 weeks off work and am bored already Laughing

Check which engine you have before rushing off to buy a set of stock pipes.
There are 3 600's
FZR600 3HE - has 3 fins on the barrel / head
FZR600R 4JH known as the Foxeye because of the headlights - has a smooth look to the engine
YZF600R 4TV ThunderCat - no external difference to the Foxeye but has stronger rods and slightly higher compression.

The Foxeye is also badged as a YZF in some countries.
The 3HE used an EXUP in California

The pipes are pretty knackered. If the worst comes to the worst I would patch them up, but best option will be to get a copy made. Had a look at FZR pipes but they do not seem right.

Know what you mean about tight tolerances, so will probably leave the bike with the pipes so final fitting is correct.

Bike is stripped down to component bits now. Starting to source consumables so as to put it back together.

YB9 exhaust - £196.42 - though not sure which version it's for.

it will cost the same again (at least) to ship it to the UK though.

I've got a set of stainless downpipes for a 4JH / T'Cat, I got them for a project that hasn't been done. They should work but if not then they can be cut to to the form some copy pipes. I'll sort some pics if your interested

Guys

Thanks for your comments, sorry for my slow reply. Need to work to pay for this Bimota addiction.

I am looking at some other options at the moment but will come back if these fail to work out. To keep things interesting the Bellaria has a different exhaust to the other two YB9 models.

Cheers
