hoping to go and have a peep at this on Monday
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2767808.htm
as it will sit nicely with my SB8R once I have removed the tumble-dryer and chair from the conservatory.
I have fixed a price that I will offer - £4200 - what do you think - too much? too little? |

looks like a great deal gary ... Looking at the tyres its hardly been stressed around the twisties and looks to be very clean. I think thats a fair price all round. Good luck! _________________ Pomps

If it's in as good a nick as it appears, the asking price is not unreasonable, compared to recent sales. Bargaining points are chain and sprockets, tyres, brake pads, do the clocks work etc. If you're prepared to spend time and money these bikes can be made to do most things pretty much as well as modern bikes within the confines of road riding and with a great deal more style 'cause it's not just another blade, R1, Duke etc. _________________ What, Jonny's gone! |

PS I should ditch the frame bungs 'cause they're likely to cause a dent in the frame in the event of an off. The footpeg does a reasonable job of protecting bodywork from complete annihilation, albeit the carrier bends and dents the swingarm, but that is a lot easier to fix/live with than a dent in the frame.
Good luck. _________________ What, Jonny's gone! |

If the condition in as good as it looks in the pictures then it's priced about right.
If you get it for less then well done you.
The two major points to check and check again are the clocks and the fueling.
The clocks are notoriously fragile. If they haven't failed yet, they will soon. Repairable but expensive and a right royal pain.
The fuel system is also a pain with some bikes flooding on the over run etc. Apparently due to the vacuum operated fuel pump.
Some people junk the pump with no adverse affects (me
).
If and when the bikes sorted they are a total joy to ride.
Good luck Gary |

Hope you get it, I'd say your offer is good.
Great looking machine and look even better with single under seat exhaust system |

Very nice, genuine 2-owner UK bike with some history (including a £1500 receipt from Hobbsport for cylinder head work?). Dyno graph showing 148 rear wheel bhp and a top speed run to 161mph.
Body work had a few very slight marks (on the carbon panel near the fuel tank where the lacquer had pitted and stone chips on the belly pan) but was otherwise pristine. Over-zealous polishing had removed large sections of paint from the rear wheel rim.
It struggled to start, then wouldn't run at all with the choke off, even when the temp hit >53c. Motor sounded OK when running. And the tacho worked.
Shop was selling it on "behalf of a good friend" for £4795 and he wouldn't take less than £4600, despite the fact that it was advertised in Classic Bike t'other month for £4500?
Cest la vie - I'm off to view an 888 Strada today. |

I suggest you contact Dr. Who... I sold my last one 5 years back for 10k, and you'll be lucky to get one for that now. They are definitely on the up. Patience and luck old boy! _________________ Pomps
