Hi Desmo, I thought you had gone quiet for the while, sorry to hear about your Mrs and the R1, hope all is OK.
I don't find shipping too bad to America, but coming the other way I find expensive, we get hit with import charges, duty and the postman also charges for paying the duty
Up to 2Kgs is 23GBP sent airmail that takes about a week |

Threadjack:
I got the bike home today and the tail-section looked a bit odd, so I decided to investigate. I took the bodywork off to discover the sub-frame (which is welded onto the frame) is tweaked. The strange thing about it is that the tail section wasn't hit and there are no signs anywhere on the frame or sub-frame of a dent, crack, or even an area of stress. I'm stumped as to why the thing is twisted. Looks like I'll either part the bike, find another frame, or get this frame straightened. The wife has a broken left shoulder in three places and a broken right leg (fibula) with torn ligaments in her right knee.

I wish her well Desmo, to a full and speady recovery, stange how you gave the full SP on the bike first then the Mrs, she's obviously made of strong stuff, take care  |

It's just been the thing that has been on my mind the most the last few hours. She loves that bike and was a bit upset about the frame when I left for work a few hours ago.

I Think that the force of hitting a car with a rider on board is sufficient to transfer the impact through to the rear subframe, especially when the rider is really clenching to stay on the bike. I wouldn't worry so much about the back end. Don't concern yourself with it until you get the main frame, headstock and forks etc checked out, as thats where I would be looking first. Just tell the Mrs that you will sort it whatever but that her efforts and concerns should be on her getting better first and trusting on you to sort the bike is a given  Just hope that the driver of the car was insured or you have legal cover and take the driver to the cleaners

If the sub frame is out of shape but not marked, my money is on a bend in the main frame
Let me know if it's going back onto the road and we'll talk about the clocks. if it's not going back on the road, I need the loom that plugs into the back of the clocks so I can use them on another project

I'll let you know. I've contacted a company well known for their ability to straighten frames, and if it isn't too extremely priced, I may rebuild the bike.

What, not even a hint? As its on the Bimota Forum and you have written DB, then presumably a Bim DB? Have you recently kidnapped a Cat from somewhere North of London?? And as a result a DB1 may be coming your way as ransom payment?? |
