bought a complete 996 motor with damaged casings. My Ducati man has a spare set of good 996 cases under his workbench......or rather, he did have. Very Happy

He seems willing to ship it overseas, but the price he got was outrageous. I figure he checked with one of the freight services. Usually the US Post Office is cheaper. A few years ago I shipped a Corbin seat for a Ducati Paso to Australia for $70. I believe the box was probably bigger, and was definitely heavier than this front fairing piece.

thanks for the heads-up DD - I have contacted the vendor and asked about shipping and he is working with me on finding the most economical deal. So far, as you predicted, US Post Office works the best at $60, but they only insure items to the value of $100, but I'll take the risk if I win the auction.

more good news for the project - I have located the original (purple anodised)rear swingarm for the Tesi - it's languishing in a garage darn sarf and mine when I can get to collect it. Got me wondering how many other garages around the country contain original parts of this bike? Very Happy

Is the Tesi 1D a single sider exhaust can then Garry? Have you seen the original 1D exhaust can that is advertised for sale? I had thought that it was 2 cans so didn't bother notifying you of it, can send link if you need it

Its for sale for 80Euros in Italy

Steve - it has 2 cans but only 1 hanger available at present. Got the link to the Tesi can - ta - you have pm.

Ian - thanks for the link to the Tesi workshop manual - its on my radar! I'm well pleased at what I've managed to acquire so far. Because so much of the bike was missing, I had this down as being a long-term project. However, if my current good fortune continues, it may now be ready for next years "1000 bikes" festival at Mallory Park. That is my target now........ Very Happy

I used to work on this back in the day,

And me used to look after it for david pickworth who was the impoter of bimota at the time

Mathew dave and I went down to misano for a bimota birthday party with some of his customers , so we spent the week riding bimetal around the track Mathew had his db 1 and his tesi there and there was the bimota test fleet to ride spent most of the time on a little 400 db2 on our way home Matthew and I stopped at the nurburgring and he rode his db1 which was in race trim on slicks and I rode the tesi for a lap

We went to the factory to collect the tesi, but when we arrived we were pointed at all the tesi spares and told to build our own bike , so we assembled enough parts for a bike plus spares, this was then fully rebuilt and anodised the purple and painted on our return , we were sponsored by alantic 252 moulson beer and boost , we had plenty to eat and drink for the rest of the year,

We did have two tesi the other was a STD 851 powered bike with metallic green paintwork
This was later sold to a guy I worked with at Benetton f1 who never got on with it and sold it to a shop I did see a test of it in mcn about that time

I think Simon Watson had a lot of parts of the bikes after the team disbanded
