What you doing up so early Oily and why are you running with a power glitch at those revs EC? Not an issue when on open roads I guess but must be a pain in the butt everywhere else?

Thanks for all the feedback. Smile

I have made an appointment with one of the back shops at work to clean the carb bodies ultrasonic.
I also ordered the carb parts according to the table of the GSXR, even the main jets.
First I try the GSXR main jets and see how it runs, after that I install the 122 main jets and try it again to compare what runs (feels) the best.

Now the only thing is to wait for the parts. Rolling Eyes

And if my wife doesn’t have any jobs for me to do I hope I can start next weekend. Neutral

Oily…that’s not a normal time to work.. Shocked

A complete pain in the tits - went we were travellig down to belgium the group were at 60mph right in the middle of it - the engine was hunting and rough as a badgers arse. 5 mph above or below and it was better.
I'm going to put the other set of carbs on with the race cans back on.

Funny you should say that Oily, I need a base run and then put on the Dyna CDI

Well I've already got my nips pierced.

OK - ykown I said my bike ran dog rough below 4.5k rpm ??? well I chnged the end cans back to the race ones and so I changed the carbs too. When I did that I notice the vacuum tube had jammed the choke so it was just a little bit on.
So firstly check the choke opperation and make sure it's closing cleanly.
Secondly it could be the idle jets are wrong or the air crews are wrong making it rich

Thanks I will pay attention to it when I install the carbs.

According to the table the air screw has to be two turns out. What’s your setting Question

The problem is that the bike between 3k en 5k revs is driving terrible. I mean really terrible..

I cleaned the carbs and synchronized them but with no result.

The biggest problem with these carbs are the emulsion tubes wearing quickly, especially if the bike used to run well at some point with the current settings. Otherwise, under normal tuning you would need to adjust the needle position and possibly the idle mixture.

Vince186 wrote:
Now I inspect the carbs with a closer look and I noticed that the needles are worn out (damaged) That the have placed a metal washer under the needles, that’s not normal according to the GSX manual.
All the jets are damaged by wrong handling with a screwdriver…. Probably they where thinking about there mother in law while they tightening the jets

My stock needles had a metal washer under the nylon washer.

The Dynojet kits tells you to emit the nylon spacer on the needles. Their needle has a different taper and it is shorter than stock, which is why they eliminate the nylon spacer. My Dynojet jets do NOT use a brass spacer ring. Dynojet jet's are a different shape inside, so they flow different which is you can't go by the jet size. It's hard to tell from this picture, but the stock jet (left) is funnel shaped inside down to the hole. The dynojets (center and right) have a VERY small taper right by the hole, but otherwise straight.

If you have a Dynojet kit, their old jets had a grove and jet size on the side (left). The newer jets are smooth and have size next to screwdriver slot. The stock jets have the groove, but the jet size is on top.

The Dynojet kit also blocks the air jet. You can see my my tuning notes. I had the same problem as you. My final adjustment was the mixture screw. Dynojet recommended 2.5 turns, but I think I ended up at 1.75.

But can I use the settings from the GSXR 1100… Question
I can not find any setting from the SB6 or are those the same…. Question

Your page from the GSX-R manual is for the '94 models. If you look at the pages for the '95 and '96, you will notice they used jets closer to your 122's, but they install the needles on groove #4 instead of #2. Suzuki jets are 122.5 for 1 & 4, and 125 for 2 & 3. The idle mixture is also set at 1-5/8 instead of 2 turns.. Suzuki had better results with these settings. You might want to base your settings of of these.

The kit that I got only replaced the jets and needles. The jets were finished nicely. I originally noticed that there are 2 part numbers, so I called them. One was USA and the other was non-USA. The difference is the needles in the USA kit are made of titanium, to better tolerate the ethonal in our fuel. I would say that my parts, in this particular case, are better than original. It's only been a couple of years, but it's still working well.

This is the only jet kit that I've purchased in well over 10 years. I kind of remember possibly having some issues with Dynojet products a long time ago. I think Dynojet might have altered the shape of the needle to work with the stock emulsion tubes. Seems like the older kits replaced the tubes. Maybe this was an issue.
