Welcome shedd....
Yes....you stay away from those nasty doochatee powered Bimota's, they'll only give you nightmare's. It's that lawn mower engine that will eventually let you down.
out of the others, i'm thinking perhaps none of them are brilliant for bad backs and knees but maybe the unloved yb11 and the sb6r are a tad more comfortable. Some, including myself, have been touring on a sb6 which was not too much of an issue. We're all different shapes and sizes and all bend into different positions Wink
...thinking you need to sit on a few Wink
Where about in this god forsaken country are you?

Welcome and Oily is correct. An sb6 or YB 11 would answer the comfort issue.

Welcome to the mad house.
The SB6 is quite roomy for such a small thing.
The only thing I am finding is problems with my left wrist.
But I can always tweak the bars untill I find that sweet spot.

There is always the Munter....? ! ?

I'd say the 6R would be best. I think they have a covered seat (other Bums are moulded rubber) so you could have a silicon pad put in. You should look to have the suspension set up for your weight and style as well.
Maybe consider the YB9, it's a 600 Yamaha 4JH / ThunderCat

...for comfort and touring, I too would have suggested the muntra...BUT...he did say he wanted to avoid the expensive lawn mower engine Laughing

I have no idea why but the YB11 seems to be the unloved Bimota (next to the Muntra of course). Lots always for sale and nobody seems to want them which is good news for you Wink
I would stay away from the SB6's but only because that means more for me Laughing

You've got the right roads for any of them. At least the yb11 means you wont have to wait a year for the right bike to come along. As Oily says they are around and very under rated. A good way to dable into the weird world of Bimota ownership Wink

No duty to pay on a bike from Europe. £300-£450 collection available from most couriers, depending on location in Europe, then if over 10 yrs old, just insure it, MOT it and off to DVLA with the paperwork, including the euro doc's, pay them your £85 and 2 days later you get a reg number. Under 10 yrs and you need a MSVA vosa test or a Certificate of Conformity, forget the CoC you wont get one, so just the extra vosa check. Oh and if you need a SVA, about 6week delay.

They look good in those colours and possibly more desirable for future investment! Wink

Id agree about the YB11, ive had mine 8 years with no major issues at all. They also have the benefit/curse of having a passenger seat.
