Hi i would like to thank oily 2bims and others for there advise/ input. The bikes looking good rebuilt and refitted the front end in the process of changing the wheels im going to leave the rear shock for now. Right the reason for this posting on inspection of my stanchions the surface finish was poor and badly scratched for a 4000m bike. Our sister company Tecvac specialises in the world of ultra hard coatings ie DLC, Nitron MC and TI-NT to exacting standards. I sent my fork stanchions away and i am delighted with the results. I have secured a quote from Tecvac of £186.60 per stanchion set for anybody on this forum who would like to use this service. Good to hear you've sorted the front end, and recoated the forks.

Previous owner of the YB11 was just in the process of getting remarried and thus maybe introduction of bikes again in his life may have been a tough call.

Do recall that the left leg was weeping when he first bought the bike so presumably you have changed the seals also? If so was that from advice on here or a n other route as 51mm fork seals are not the easist to find..

Price seems good, is that for DLC and Tin or do prices vary? Be interested to see the finished result and what you went for, DLC would look cool on those big fat forks.
The YB11 51mm forks were known for poor quality control at the time and often out of spec on diameter, and thus early seal failures, so hopefully you've sorted yours now..

dear 2bims your discription of my hand built italian thoughbred. as having been built with poor quality control and often out of spec on diameter forks also dont forget rattley discs etc. i put it to you that these are excessive racing clearances where built into the bike in rimmini to add character yours roy yarrow

The discs do rattle, but that's a brembo thing Wink just check they don't have any front / back movement.

I assume the price is for the froklegs stripped ??

...First thing I do with rattling Brembo discs Roy..........
Strip them...put a crinkle back into the crinkle washer/shim...voilą...no rattle for at least a couple of thousand miles Wink

The rattle is due to Italian design tolerances which I think are to the nearest centimetre. It IS possible to have fully floating racing discs with closer tolerances than new Brembo's Wink

Its good to see that you've entered into Bimota ownership with the correct attitude, expert perfection and you've gone the wrong way, looking for something that requires excessive time in your man cave and time away from the family and you've found the right club to time.

Fettled correctly and used and you should be rewarded for your endeavours, or at least thats what we like to believe and convince ourselves wholly with that thought.

Also expect your discs to go rusty if left "wet" after washing, as high iron content, thats the front and rears, cleans off though with use. Discs are same as used on Ducati 916SPS if ever you need a new set, cast iron full floaters same disc rotor pattern, offsets, diameter, fixings etc.

Rears are unique to Bimota and universal fit for around 20 models, but again all Bimotas, but news one can still be got, just takes patience though,,,,,,,,

Very nice indeed, a very nice deep intense black for sure.

I'm also intrigued by your head stand, box section support, looks most sturdy, what type and where from?

Very easy to deal with and very quick turnaround too.
It'll take you longer to strip your forks than it takes them to do their bit Wink
