LOL! My thoughts exactly. After spending 30 years in the auto collision repair industry, I was very wary of that piece being newly powder coated as well.

Installed:
First, here is the broken one that I had been riding on (including jaunts on a race track, Miller Motorsports Park, Utah) for about three years or more (??)
It literally fell off into my hand when I took the bolts out...   
When my wife saw it the $500.00 I spent on the used one was instantly justified....she loves me!  Of course, I threw in a couple of "I am sooo lucky I am not dead, riding on this!!!!" That worked!
NOT GOOD!
Broken piece ready for the scrap heap.......Now, how do those come out?

So the next discussion will be, that you have to sell the bike when it’s finished because it is a dangerous bike and she loves you so much.

Not for the scrap heap. Might be useless on a bike but a possible useful pattern to get a copy machined up.

Well, well, where where you when I was struggling to buy one from Graf-bimota???
I could have bought yours and kept the $$$$ in the club....
.....and, yes, they are the same.

Regardless. Now for the funny part......
How much was I willing to pay?....mmmmmm? I have a beautiful bike with a broken steering component that is keeping me from riding her.

Once the price creeps up to a certain point...I have to make a decision...
pay the extortionate price for a rare part....cannibalise another bike....or my favourite, produce an improved design for a fraction of the cost

Oily's r and d consists of an old man of the sea scratching his head and bum at the same time for ten minutes before coming up with the solution. Then he has a cup of tea, gets his hammer out and completes the task in the next ten minutes. Fitting the new design then takes 2 years if he can remember he did it in the first place...  Overall cost? Priceless.

Mind you, if he was an ex marine he would get the hammer out first, hit it... a lot, then think about how he should have done it and often gets asked how did you break that ball bearing?
