Well here's what I'm trying to do. Starting with a Kwak ZX12R motor, and whether to use a standard frame with integral air-box or use a Yam GTS frame and make a new air-box. Bimota did prototype a Yam with a FZ750 motor using alloy plates so I may chop the Yam frame to mount the front arm onto the Kwak one. This why I've badgering various members for bits, even knackered ones, and drawings. Besides the motor, Kwak and Yam frames, I've been building a collection of potential parts to get started, including a SB6R tail unit which has been around the world, a 1D swing-arm, a mag alloy front rim and a Dymag single side rear arm.
I'll get some pics up when I can sort out the upload routine.
Cheers. _________________ If I don't force my opinion onto others; I expect the same from them! |

Sounds like quite a project mate! You have a lot of work ahead of you and a lot of parts to find. Finding the right contacts will be the most important part i guess. I look forward to see the updates
Cheers,

hi
I wouldn't bother with the GTS frame- it weighs a ton and you'll have to aluminium weld to modify it.
Sounds like you are going in a similar direction to Steve Lindsell:

He started off with a GTS and replaced everything that wasn't really up to racing.
Frame and front swingarm, which are massively engineered for sports touring.
The secong picture was the first version still with standard parts- to do that, you just need a GTS and strip it and add an Exup engine.
I think aerotech even have race bodywork available.
One year later Steve was racing a Saxon Triumph- for probably good reasons.
Here's somebody else doing a sporty GTS conversion:

Hi Ian,
Didn't I buy some GTS bits off you thru Ebay, some years ago, when I lived in the UK?
Cheers. _________________ If I don't force my opinion onto others; I expect the same from them! |

Well we'll see if I've got this sorted!!
Besides Bimota's Tesi, I saw this GPZ and met Karl in 1988.

He used to live up near Crewe. He had some write-ups in Superbike and MCN, and recieved an award for it. _________________ If I don't force my opinion onto others; I expect the same from them! |

I suspected it was you.
having trouble remembering your name though . .
The Gpz looks pretty well sorted.
That would be another idea- do something like the Tony Foale Q2:
http://www.tonyfoale.com/Articles/Q2/progres5.htm
similar idea to the GPz- with a single sider on the front.

Here's some pictures of some parts I've acquired in pursuit of my project :-
[img][/img]
Like Geekay, I got these discs from Japan.
[img][/img]
An 1D front arm from Italy.
[img][/img]
A mag alloy front rim from Germany.
[img][/img]
A carbon fibre Dymag rear arm from UK; it had been mounted on an Aprillia.
[img][/img]
And this SB6R seat unit came from Brisbane to Adelaide, to Stratford on Avon as hand luggage, then back to Adelaide when I moved House!! _________________ If I don't force my opinion onto others; I expect the same from them! |
