Has anyone had one of the original dashes apart? Neither the Tacho or speed are working. I have been told that it is common for a diode to come lose inside & I need to carry out some repairs. |

They are very prone to loosing 'segments' of the display.
Probably worth speaking to Piero, especially as you have lost both functions. |

Is this for an injected or carbureted bike? If it's carbureted, I have two SB8K ecu's apart right now? |

I managed to get it apart & a capacitor was lying in the bottom of the dash. I will get a new one & fit it up to see if it solves the problems. Thanks for the Piero tip.

Thanks Trev. How is the No1 member of the 2 member Australian VDue club going. Did you have a good Christmas / New Year? |

Shit mate, at this rate we will be able to start a movement in the words of Arlo Guthrie
I fitted a new diode so the tacho is going round. Are the tachos very flighty for want of a better word or do I still have a problem? It does read RPM ok once the needle is put back on in the right spot but it does waver around a bit.

Yes, I suppose the movement I have is better than the movement I had. |

I have the later one piece led dash....temp is stuck at 40, low fuel light works, but thats only 70miles anyhow, Speedo at 40 varies between 25 and 70, up to a 100 it can read 190.....so, no idea if its cooking itself, or what the real speed is, but the tachos fine so can time gearchanges ok,,,grateful for small mercies... |

I must be the lucky one, mine works perfect! It's a bugger to read in bright sunlight, but that's not a hassle in the UK!!! |
