I'm interested in your foot pegs. I've been looking for some folding foot pegs to fit to my track bike as the cart track that i hope to do some testing on specifies that i must have folding pegs. Been difficult to find folding pegs that will fit my race rearsets. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Brian, many thanks for posting the photographs.....you are a star!
Although the photo got out of order, as in how the work took place, I will attempt to explain the photographs.
The RAMAIR filter ones are from another post regarding FCR filters.....so please ignore.
There is a photograph of the bike on a trailor, having all measurements taken and deciding how we could use only Bimota parts.
The idea was to use the actual Bimota pegs but mounted on a new machined alloy baseplate.James, the machinist got a bit anal and matched a cutter to Bimota's machining marks on their main alloy frame section!
The Bimota foot pegs were too small for my big boned feet so a spacer was made......but Bimota slot their foot pegs so they do not turn and as we altered the positioning of the pegs to fit my knack erred ankles we had to re slot the spacer accordingly...the spacer is the 20mm alloy between the fot peg and the base plate,
The carbon tray was removed from the under seat and the alloy side rails were drilled into with stainless inserts inserted...the alloy side plates are cast and there is webbing inside last seen by us in aircraft castings. You can not just drill and tap into this stuff...we had to make s steel sections to fit into the webbing...these were tapped M10.
2machined rails were slotted to carry the cables and these two sections bolted to a single billet rear section made to mimic the seat shape.
There were grooves machined on the under side to hide all cables.
From the assembled rear light assembly a tail tidy from a Bimota DB7 was used and the number plate hangs from there.
Another photo shows the left over pieces....bars,,,pegs...number plate thingy etc etc.
I am currently on holiday in Greece...but I would really like to that Brian for posting the photographs.
Many thanks

You're welcome. Sorry it's a little messy now with the photo's on one page and your write up on the next. I can still add comments under each photo if you want me to. Email me again if you want me to add comments.
The foot pegs and tail tidy came up a treat mate. So, the pegs themselves are original Bimota? _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Brian.....no need for any more editing..what you have achieved from the stuff supplied was good enough.
As for the pegs .....they are standard issue DB9 pegs...although in one of the photographs you can see my stubby fingers holding the original Bimota baseplate. all I did was position them in a manner more suited to club foot (rather than club racer) rider!
I smashed both angles many years ago ...so as soon as I saw the DB9...I knew with a little medication to the bike...rather than to me...I could ride a Bimota.
What is not shown is the rear light assembly...I kept the original light built into the seat, but I also added another light as the Bimota item would be obscured by any bag or rucksack strapped to the back seat. As an addition safety feature I wired a brake flasher to the original light so even obscured it would flash on braking. Likewise the indicators were added to brackets on the number plate holder.
The only thing I really was not keen on was the rear light indicator assembly coming off the swinging arm....as a colleague said "It looks like it has Ben made by SiverSwan!"
SilverSwan make children's prams in the UK!
Still at child at heart.
Regards

The final batch of photographs from me to the photo poster, Brian in the land of Oz
The final images show the alterations needed to the linkages...the gear change side was easy as in a new threaded rod connector.
The brake side however was far more complex and needed a alloy block with attachments for one linkage to locate in whilst the other side, involved the brake adjuster and another fag packet on which to do the sketches!
The original Bimota bars were taken off and another set ....100mm oversize were used and new bar ends to match the Bimota ones fitted.
All the bits left over are on the final photograph along with a top shot showing the view from above of the new rear. Light number plate holder....it gives the illusion of extending the Bimota by about 150mm over all but is still kind of true to the original.
Anyway".....it is closer to what I wanted.
Next step is off to the factory on the first week of June to have the performance exhaust fitted and the ECU altered....then the best bit...the ride home.
I hope you like the photos....once again..thank you Brian.
Regards

Right then, that is about it....the pictures tell a thousand words.
On the underside of the tail tidy the cables were siliconed into the grooves and clamped over night....once the clamps came off and with a little bit of cleaning there was no need for any cable ties and all cables were fixed.
The number plate extender bracket looked too long with three machined slots ...so I cut and re welded the bracket making it shorter and only one slot remaining.
Other than that...it is about it.
Once again many thanks to Brian for posting pictures
