|
|
Over the last weekend I went to the BEW Bimota weekend at Tazio Nuvolari Circuit near Pavia in Italy. The track is new and I noticed the floor paint in the pit boxes still had the masking tape down (I should really stop snagging buildings) and it doesn’t come up on a sat nav either which makes things interesting.
The first even was an evening reception after the press conference. I was made to feel welcome even though I was on my own. There were some bikes on display and also some bicycles, they were very light As I hung out I watched the dark clouds roll in with sheet and fork lighting but the rain seemed to hold off. So back to the hotel to get some sleep for Saturday
I'll add some pics this evening _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Cheers Evil Chick for the piccies.........were there any other Bimotas down there on display.I'd heard that Piero of Vdue fame was prepping to take 6 of his own bikes down there to show off what Bimota used to do.......
Overall....was it worth the effort and expense of going? And moreover did you get a chance to try out the BB3 on the track? Or maybe even a Tesi?? |

Yes, yes, yes and yes
I could have saved a bit if I'd known the weekend was happening sooner or even if I'd made the decision to go a bit quicker. You could do it by staying in Milan and attending on the one day but the trip from Pavia to the track might prove tricky ... eh John ? (there's always room in my cell matey).
A special Bonjour for the Fenchies too who gave me beer and cheese
There were also some special bikes around

The HB4 was one from Bimota racing in Milan, his opinion of the weekend after supplying a few bikes was , 'The Bimota Experience weekend was poorly organized, the historic motorcycles have been neglected,
we could not do the parade on track , to try new bikes long waits ' , Don't think he was to impressed.
Oh HB4 is for sale 80k if you have any spare cash.
Shame , as would be a nice visit, but maybe not organised around the same time as other major motorcycle events.

It rained heavily on the Saturday night so much that they thought the Alstare hospitality would be damaged. On the Sunday morning when I returned it was still wet and there was light rain about. I rode the Tesi and DB10 on the road. It was really just down the road and back, about 3 miles in all again with an instructor so it wasn't a very quick, quick spin.
The Tesi didn't feel much different to any other bike, you just think it has stiff suspension and doesn't dip at the front. I didn't really use the brakes just changing down the box. I haven'y ridden a V twin before ... they're a bit vibey aren't they ?
The BD10 Bimotamotard was tall and skinny, it also ran out of revs very quickly. It was ok but not a bike I'd want to ride. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Cheers for the piccies Evil......I knew they were going to make a twin seat tesi...but didnt realise they were changing it so much....side swept exhaust instead of under the seat....and bar risers and handlebars for upright riding position??? Perhaps its their new "tourer".....still like the look of the single seater with clip ons...but I suppose this version may attract more senior buyers?

Nice to see a Bimota Db2 Junior also...the 400cc strangled kitten version for the Japanese market.........would be a real hoot to ride... |
