Anyone had a Yamaha RZ350? What did you think?

A 350 LC is a sort after bike but nothing like a V-Due. It's from a different era with different ear handling, brakes and performance ... although the engine can be big bored using snowmobile top ends, a frame from a Cagiva Mito, front and back ends, but then that's a whole different thing.

Any 2-stroke from yesteryear evokes nostalgic memories of fragility, smoke rin tin tin noise and 2-stroke delivery of Off/on performance.....Biking for me started with a DT125LC, KH100EX (after the DT was stolen)....RD400E, RD350LC, RG500Gamma.....then as i "matured"....FZ600, ZXR750H1.....

Whilst wanting to return to all of them at some time or another....I know that nostalgia tends to always wear rose tinted spectacles....and memories are best kept as that.....I'm no longer as agile or slim as I used to be.....and perhaps the bikes wouldnt be as I remembered them either.......big following for RD350 "elsies" as they call them....far too few that are stock standard...but that in itself lends a reason why they are modded.......I still reckon you could have a blast on a RZ350....albeit at lesser speeds as the fear factor would kick in at a lesser level with the spindly frames, shock, forks and wooden brakes.....I have a mate with over 40 bikes....all of which he tries to ride in succession each year....with ages ranging from 60's, 70's, 80's 90's and recent stuff including Ducati Diavel, Bimota DB5mille.....hes also had Db1's Db2's, 750F1's etc......Range of bikes from Guzzis, beamers, kwacks you name it...he loves them all....and has a Z1100R eddie lawson green meanie....which has had a Z1300 engine shoehorned into it........when you look at the frame tube size and fork diameters and small discs and calipers you get frightened just imagining riding it.......He says the same....at 60mph....he reckons its on the edge...so....lower speeds but you still can feel that youre at the bikes limits rather than at your own....This can be a good or a bad thing depending on your riding....I prefer to think of myself at being at my limit rather than that of the bikes......

Yeah, I could see that. Maybe it's more nostalgia. My first bike was a Yamaha 100. Then it was a DT1 250 enduro. Then it was a Kawasaki Mach III. So I'd like to think having a two stroke would take me back to that every day feels like Christmas euphoria when you're first riding a bike.
I don't know. I found one that seems decent shape for not a lot of money ($3,500 US). Might be fun for while, and might recoup my cost when it comes time to sell. I'll think it over some more.

I remember driving a friends in 86 that was wickedly fast. I was able to get the front wheel up in 3rd with just the throttle and no clutch. Something my interceptor at the time couldnt do.
