Not taken the shine off at all, quite enjoy working on it as so far its all been quite easy.
Just ordered the parts from Piero so just waiting for them to be delivered.
I've seen it mentioned that it can be a pain to fill her up with coolant, airlocks being a problen, any one got any tips for this?

Piero generally quite good on getting parts out, so hopefully not to long to wait.
I have read that also, but had no issues with mine , but then did loosen upper pipes and bleed bolts to get air out as I filled it. |

Jack the front end up in the air, then you have no issues with air locks.
Did this when I fitted silicone hoses, worked a treat. |

OK, update time,
I replaced the defective parts on the sprag clutch, was quite an easy job, also had no problem with the coolant, just removed bleed screws on the pump and top cylinder and then filled very slowly, don't think I have any air locks but not sure how I could tell? it dosen't seem to overheat.
Good news is that it started OK and seems to start first time even when left overnight.
Bad news, she dosen't want to go very far before cutting out.
I've ridden her twice since the repair and both times she runs fine with lots of power for about half a mile, then the power decreases dramatically, I assume I'm loosing one of the cylinders, maybe a quarter of a mile later she will cut out completly.
After a short time she will re-start with full power and the process will repeat.
Seems like fuel starvation but I'm not sure where the problem lies.
She has an almost full tank, all the fuel hoses have been replaced and I removed the inline filters I fitted as I was not happy with the quality. She has two fuel taps fitted, the screw out one connected to the bottom of the tank, this is fully open and I don't use this one as it is very stiff, and one on the left side of the seat unit, this seems to work very well.
I will be removing the hoses from the carbs next to check the flow.
As any good roads are at least half a mile away from home, I still havent been able to fully "enjoy" the V Due experience that everyone talks about
Still very happy she starts now and I'm sure it won't be too long before I sort the other problem out.
Thanks for everyones help so far.

Is the fuel tank breather unblocked? |

I'm not sure which part is the breather, I've had a look in that area but can't see anything obvious. |

Were the silicon hoses a set specifically for the VDue or were they generic?

If it has a EFI fuel cap it has no breather
You need to pull apart the fuel cap and remove the blanking plug

Defo sounds like fuel starvation.
Usual things, trapped fuel line , fuel cap breather , carb float sticking or did you say your bike had the fuel tap ??? If so check that.
Got to also remember that starvation of fuel is also starvation of oil. |

Not sure if it has an EFI fuel cap but I will pull it apart and see if I can find a blanking plug.
Fuel lines are not trapped, floats seem free to move and yes it does have the fuel tap so I will look at that as well.
Not going to have time until Wednesday so will have to wait for a while longer
Good point about the oil starvation.

Don't know if you have had the carbs apart , but think from the condition you got the bike in they have most certainly been apart. It is possible to put the floats in upside down therefore reducing the fuel height. If you take the bowls off and they are literally full of fuel then thats OK, if they are only 1/2 full then the floats are in wrong.
The fuel cap , if incorrect has a green small rubber conical bit on the cap that seals against the vent pipe on the cap base from memory. If you can't see the rubber bit , then you are OK !! |

I took off the old hoses and had them matched up. L hoses to the heads are a prob, as they are different dia on either end.... |

Thanks JRH. I'll see if a local supplier is interested in fabricating them |

OK, so I found the problem, The fuel hose between the tank and the fuel tap was a very tight fit onto the taps spigot, having forced the pipe onto the spigot, it cut into the inside of the pipe causing a blockage.
So the bike is now starting fine and I have just taken her out for a run, she certainly needs getting used to
The tall first gear makes roundabouts interesting, stuttering around them.
There seems to be loads of power but she won't rev over 10k, is this normal?
