|

Hi everyone
I have db8 one seat
Need to register it, but can't find any sticker, notice, etc that it's one seated bike
Maybe anyone had the same problem?
Thanks a lot |

I don't think there is anything on the bike to say if its a single seat or not. Wouldn't have thought it would make much difference but then again no idea which country your in? |

Do you not have the previous Registration document or is it new?...it is has been previously registered then you should have bought it with a registration document....this contains the information you seek...if in Italian...its monoposto for single seat...and biposto for twinseat
Not so familiar with the twin seat...the single seat version is a self supporting carbon fibre unit...only footpegs for the rider....twinseats I guess may have a separate hidden metal subframe under the seat unit...and should evidently have a passenger seat pad on the back...the exhaust hanger would be different containing a bracket or lug where the passenger RHS footpeg would have been...on LHS a separate hanger and peg...and cut out in the seat unit where it was fixed.
If bike is new it should come with a Certificate from BImota factory if sold in Europe, called a EuroCoC Certificate of Corporation, for post 2005 bikes, this also states monoposto or bipostn as would be in Italian...or language of country for sale in...Bimota sometimes will provide these for a bike post sale...although they normally leave the factory with it...and if it had been registered it goes to the office of that countries registration and is retained by them...If a vehicle is sold in Italy....and then registered and then sold outside of Italy...the owner has to apply and pay for a certificate of transfer, which again shows bike details for one seat or two, and max load of carriage weight...and this certificate goes to the owner...Stickers on the Frame normally state max carriage weight...if 200kg or such...twin...100kg..single...max load also stated....deduct weight of bike say 164kg and you have permissible carried load... |

Oh...did you get your bad/no starting issue sorted? I have since found out that the Ducati 1098/1198 engines of that period and other models, same engine as yours ...had a bad supply of starter motors, that were replaced under warranty by Ducati if the problem occurred...The test was that if the fitted battery was good but did nothing to turn to the motor...they would connect a car battery to the bike battery...to boost up the cranking power...and if it then cranked and fired...it was part of the bad batch of starter motors and was swapped for a new one
Someone else on here had the exact same problem...and swapping the starter motor cured it |

Not sure if anything that actually states 1 or 2 seats but structure of seat is far different.
Single seat self supporting carbon , dual seat has large alloy sub frame and a different seat unit to accommodate said alloy frame. Alloy frame also attaches to main bike frame and plastic seat unit cut back around fixings. |
