I took my pics early on, as the crowd was just starting to form. Lets put it this way, by mid point of the show especially when lunch was being served there was hardly any free real estate to travel on.
These are classified as motorcycles:
Californication:
By the way this show was dedicated to 50 years of Norton Commando. Lots of British iron on hand:

Some photos of the SB8R and miscellaneous show photos:
- The Britten is directly behind the Bimota. To the right is a 2003 BMW BCR #9 (thats an early one). Seeing the Boxer Cup Replika gave me hope of bringing my 2004 #193 to the show.
- notice overcast skies
- the photographer was clearly confused on which bike to shoot

This was the other bike parked close to me and I happened to be be in its category as well. It took second place on the On Road Competition (my category), with Britten taking first (I don't want to be quoted on this as I did not stick around to see all of the final awards). With that "dustbin" body work, the bike was said to hit 135 mph! Here is the link on this significant bike: http://thevintagent.blogspot.com/2010/04/1957-works-125cc-dohc-mondial.html
Starting the Mondial (not the best picture, sorry)

Final batch of eye candy:
- new motus naked bike. i am not a Motus fan but that doesn't mean these are bad bikes. They are getting quite a following among US enthusiasts thanks in part to the transverse V4 engine configuration with those bright valve covers.
- not a fan of e-bikes either but I think this is the future. Not a huge fan of electric powered cars, but then I had the doors blown off my 2001 XJR by a Tesla few years back. _________________ 1991 Bimota YB10

Thanks for posting photos, tirefrier. I've seen the Britten there before. The range of bikes is pretty cool. Everything from bone stock Kawasaki Mach III, to ex-race bikes, to one off prototypes. It sounds like it was well worth the trip there for you.
I'm glad you got your SB8R in the show, most riders can probably count the number of bimotas they've seen on one hand, so it's nice for them to be able to see what these bikes are about. I hope it helps if you're still thinking of selling yours. _________________ Jack

Thanks Jack! I think mine was the only Bimota there. Sort of a sad fact given that this show attracts huge number of rare and collector bikes. It also requires a bit of planning and effort to bring the bike down for display.
My bike received a good deal of attention, considering that it was flanked by the Britten and the Mondial. The most often asked question was about ram air. Also, people were amazed at how light the bike really was despite its size. One thing I can say is I held my head up proud when I started the SB8R. That twin sounds darn raw through the Arrow exhaust. You could say we held our own in the mix.
I would love to keep the bike if I had space and ability to ride it and maintain it properly. Alas, this is not the case. The abundance of carbon on the SB8R and the unobtanium of the fairings makes me very nervous when I ride it. Of course, I can park it in the garage and let it rot on the inside, while keeping the outside looking pretty but that will go against my principal. If I can't ride it I shouldn't own it. I have done all the heavy lifting in bringing this bike up to proper riding standards, with exception of tires. Tire choice is personal so I adjusted the price and let the new owner make that decision. _________________ 1991 Bimota YB10

Amazing bike and an amazing story from a brilliant man, John Britten.
My little piece of Britten history... I have 2 pewter model kitsets from the Britten Motorcycle Company. One still in Kit form in the original box

Even at that scale it looks impressive !!
Amazing to think a man in a shed built ALL that by himself, from the engine to the carbon wheels !! and then raced it with some success. |

Vort, how much is the entry fee for the Manchester show and the price of an admittance? I paid $150 which essentially were two entry tickets at an advance purchase price of $75 each. It was $95 a ticket at the gate.
Offering quality grub gratis is a nice way for the organizers to show appreciation for those that were there. _________________ 1991 Bimota YB10

Oh ok , Manc show is £15 or 17 on the door and we get the organisers gave us the stand free , plus think I got 8 free tickets for the 5 bikes I took.
But it still looks VERY NICE at your show, I prefer the setup you had. |

The event is held at one of the more expensive towns in Central California. It looks like the goal of the event organizers is to come close to the status and the scope of the Concourse d'Elegance held in the same vicinity every August.
It would be nice if we can get several Bimota owners together (I'm looking at you QuikDuk and YB11Reno ) and apply for the next year's show under the Italian section. I know its difficult to plan in advance, but keep that in mind please.
I just found out that this year the number of bikes was limited to 300, instead of 400 from last year.
Brian, cool Britten model. Your first pic looked quite realistic, had to do a double take. The sound of this bike starting up is amazing. I just loved the team effort in getting the engine running, one person manning the rollers, another pushing down on the rear for tire grip and of course the rider on the bike. It was a real treat. _________________ 1991 Bimota YB10

Tirefriar,
It looks like you had a great time. We do need to get some rides in as well as maybe with some more SoCal Bimotas.
the pics turned out great too! |

Thanks brother. I'm now concentrating on getting the Dieci back on the road, we'll definitely get some good rides. Hope all is well with you! _________________ 1991 Bimota YB10
