|
|
As well as a DB2 I also have an ex Japan DB2J (junior). Mine was modified a few years after it was produced to house a 750ss motor rather than the 400cc original.
As standard
My bike
Its interesting to see which parts are different between 900cc and 400cc models as I have never found a parts manual for the DB2J
IF ANYONE HAS ONE THEY WOULD BE PREPARED TO COPY I AM SURE IT WOULD BE A MUCH VALUED ADDITION TO THE 'FILES' SECTION OF THE BIMOTA UK FB PAGES.
In any case I can confirm that apart from the different paint job......
1) the engine mount spacers are different
DB2 p/n 502260550 (10mm thick)
DB2J p/n 502460020 (15mm thick)
(Photo courtesy 'Brian' of his DB2J))
My 750 engine has the 15mm spacers fitted but I am not sure that is how it should be as I cannot get good alignment of rear sprocket to front sprocket. which oddly enough is about 5mm out.
As rear wheel alignment is fixed (to ensure alignment with front wheel the only variables are sprocket or engine positioning in frame. TO BE INVESTIGATED!
2) Header pipes are also different (although 2 into 1 collector and silencers are the same )
DB2 p/n are
502215010 (front cyl)
502215020 (rear cyl)
The parts have a small plate welded to them with the numbers 221 and 222 respectively
The headers are different on the DB2J and NOT COMPATIBLE .
I dont have the p/n for the DB2 J but the welded plates on these are stamped 224 and 225 respectively.
DB2 and DB2J front headers
3) Obviously with a single disc Bimota decided to fit a LHS fork leg with no brake mounts . Nice and clean but also means you cant easily or without $$$ upgrade to twin disc set up.
4) Brake and clutch reservoirs are remote fitting on DB2J
5) No oil cooler on the DB2J
6) Narrower rear wheel and tyre fitted (5.5" on DB2, 4.5" on DB2J)
7) Different final drive gearing with a 47 tooth sprocket as standard!
everything else the same?? _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with!

You should be ageing twice as quick as the rest of us Steve as you get to celebrate your declared FB birthday as well as your real one.... bit like the Queen I guess. Me, I've just had the one where everybody starts singing a certain Beatles song! ( I'll leave you to guess as a sort of Suduko puzzle substitute!)
Back on topic I have updated my first post with details of the DB2 Vs DB2J header pipe info. _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |
